Donald Trump supporter Sarah Palin has come out swinging at Ted Cruz accusing the Texas senator's campaign manager of "dirty tricks" for suggesting the billionaire developer bought her endorsement and calling the alleged chicanery "heartbreaking."
In a volcanic message under the headline "Dirty Politics: Witnessing Firsthand It's Always Heartbreaking, Never Surprising," the former Alaska governor and vice-presidential running mate of John McCain in 2008, Palin writes on her Facebook page:
"Thank heavens Donald Trump opened so many eyes to the lies, corruption and total lack of accountability that come so naturally to the permanent political class. And Sen. Ted Cruz was spot on when he once noted that 'millions of Americans are asking for accountability and truth.' "Which is why it's so curious and saddens us this lack of accountability with the lies of Cruz's own campaign."
Palin is on the warpath over suggestions that Trump, a billionaire, "bought" her endorsement. On Monday, Cruz's campaign manager Rep. Steve King suggested that when he told NBC News:"[Trump] has a massive amount of assets and resources that he can deploy when it comes time to convince someone. And that has to affect the way people think. Not only the plus-ups of the promotion, the limelight, all the resources that are there." Palin charged King with "lying."
"King, who's previously asked for and received my endorsement, time and resources to support his own election, is still lying about my altruistic support of Mr. Trump, and he's refused to provide any evidence to the contrary," Palin wrote on Facebook.
"And, this U.S. Congressman (Steve King) actually lied to his own constituents on behalf of Cruz, regarding a good man, Dr. [Ben] Carson. "He told voters Carson was dropping out of the Presidential race immediately before the Iowa caucus, causing a relative uproar inside the process, so the word would spread and he could rack up more votes for his candidate, Cruz. That's a dirty trick. Dr. Carson deserved better. The voters deserved better!"
Palin said Steve King was guilty of "very sad; typical Washington tactics."
"THIS is why 'the status quo has got to go'
We've had eight years of a reckless President, accountable to no one, pushing this country to the brink. Why would we ever take a risk repeating that?
Nope. The lies started with the ex CIA guy working for Cruz, whatshisname, who tweeted that Carson was leaving the state or something.
This is settled fact. Why are you pushing it here on FR at this late date? All very curious.
People said a lot of things during the campaign, including the Trump side. It wasn’t all true.
Boy the pushback on FR over Cruz and King makes me wonder what is really going down with Pence and his transition situation.
Swamp needs to meet Drain, Mr. Pence.
True, they should have confirmed. I guess they figured that since it was being reported, it was solid.
As I recall from reports at the time, efforts were made to contact Carson’s people, but they were unsuccessful.
They simply made a mistake — repeated a mistake, actually.
To say they lied is as valid as saying that Bush lied us into the war in Iraq.
There is a difference.
Look, man, it’s real clear what happened.
Whether or not Trump and Cruz bury the hatchet is up to them, and if they do it’s fine with me.
But you trying to BS people who know quite well what happened ain’t cool.
No, it is NOT fact. Again, it was a CNN report.
And Carson was leaving. He went home for a few days. CNN misinterpreted that as quitting.
It was odd on Dr. Carson’s part. it should hve been reported more clearly.
Cruz was a dirtbag during his POTUS ambitions, but he’s been a fantastic Senator — a point of view that I maintained during the “cage match.” Cruz is a definite asset.
Palin has a reliable compass. Love her.
You say you know what happened, but you continue to misstate it.
the primaries are over. You can drop this false claim now.
so by your “logic,” my dad getting me my first job as a draftsman means, he was then bought and paid for by the company after. no i don’t think so, that’s leftist, quid-pro-quo thinking.
i’m still grateful for Steve King being accessible and standing with us in the darkest days of the obama administration. i won’t ever bad mouth him after that.
anyway, your thread. i’ll shut up now. may God bless you and yours.
Two weeks before the caucuses, Ted Cruz’s campaign found out that most Carson supporters second choice was Ted Cruz. IIRC, Amanda Carpenter hatched the idea to spread the rumor that Carson was dropping out. The memos about it were ready to go BEFORE the night of the caucus. Carpenter orchestrated the misdirecting with CNN. Without this dirty trick Trump would have won Iowa.
What was true was that Cruz and his BushieRINO backers scuttled Carson’s votes and tried to blame it on CNN.
But the tweets that went out by Cruz’s campaign were the evidence of the fraud.
People often overlook the fact that Cruz was a RoveRINO and Neil Bush was on his campaign.
Then there’s this: http://dcwhispers.com/ted-cruz-photographed-barack-obama-valerie-jarrett-hillary-clinton-days-gop-convention/
Cruz not fit for Trump administration, despite what DC RINOs want to do with his career now.
let’s go back and rehash every time Cruz or Trump or Christie or Lindsey or whoever made an ass of themselves. Then let’s destroy any potential friends and make every potential ally an enemy. By all means, let’s go after Ryan and obsess over that pick non-stop. And remember Giuliani was persona non grata here, as well as Newt Gingrich.
But heaven yes, let us absolutely destroy Ted Cruz, allow zero possibility of reconciliation, because petty contention is good for the country.
No, Trump was never going to win Iowa.
You make this allegation, but I have seen nothing to back you up, and the reported story is quite otherwise.
We get it — you hate Cruz. But the election is over. Trump won. That’s a good thing. But you don’t need to continue this bogus attack on Ted Cruz anymore.
Thank you SubMareener.
The twitter logs prove what you are saying as well.
I’m just curious about why anyone is exonerating Ted Cruz’s despicable caucus behavior at this late date...
Reminds me of Rove’s threats about Ryan to Trump on election night... defending cheaTED is insane.
You underestimate the problem of Cruz’s stance as a GOPe’s mole in the Tea Party.
Democrats, liberals — you can count on them being cray cray looney tunes.
But when you have RINO enablers of the Dems — or fake Tea Partiers like Cruz?
You have a HUGE problem. It cannot be appeased. You can’t make friends with these people. They lied about what they stood for.
Thus the philosophical problem for actual conservatives in the age of the Uniparty GOPe.
What I don’t get is WHY are these FReepers defending Cruz’s vile behavior now?
Trump has always been polling MUCH higher than we have known.
Cruz’s people wouldn’t have gone all out to cheat the vote in Iowa if they hadn’t smelled a problem.
It’s just like the night in April 2011 when Obama took down Trump at the White House Correspondent’s dinner (and topped off that night with Bin Laden)...
Trump was beating the crap out of every GOPer in the Primaries in that time frame, he was number one in the polls. Obama had to take him out that night, he would have lost to Trump in ‘12!
So stop with the Cruz crap. Cruz was running the way Conservative Treehouse always said he was running... for Jebbie.
Read it.
"Last night when our political team saw the CNN post saying Dr. Carson was not carrying on to New Hampshire and South Carolina, our campaign updated the grassroots leaders just as we would with any breaking news story. That's fair game," Cruz said in a statement. "What the team should have done is send around the follow-up statement from the Carson campaign clarifying that he was indeed staying in the race when that came out. That was a mistake from our end, and for that I apologize to Dr. Carson."
Essentially the Cruz campaign ignored the inconvenient part of CNN's original report that Carson was not dropping out of the race.
In fact, Moody said so explicitly on Twitter: "He plans to stay in the race beyond Iowa no matter what the results are tonight."
You are the one who is false.
Knock it off, liar.
Because that guy is a die hard Cruzlim who got banned before and should be banned again if he’s going to continue to lie like he is in this thread.
