For as long as Barack Obama has been on the scene, he has claimed to be a Christian, and the media have consistently defended him against any claim to the contrary - whether that he is a Muslim (which he is not) or simply a closet atheist (much more likely if you ask me). The claim that Obama is a Christian is based on a) self-identification; and b) his years listening to Jeremiah Wright rant about America’s chickens coming home to roost.

At this point, so close to the end of the Obama presidency, a veto is meaningless. Congress can pass a continuance which keeps funding at current levels.

I recall working for a defense contractor when there was a similar political tiff. The company management made a judgement call and continued to work and pay the expenses themselves betting that the project I was working would be continued under a new budget. I am sure the customer was apprised as they had to continue to sign off on tests. The call was good and the customer paid off. So, there are numerous ways to handle such a short term funding glitch.
