Just a day after the Republican Party candidate in the US presidential elections, Donald Trump, opposed the AT&T’s proposed $85 billion deal to buy Time Warner Inc, Vermont Senator and Democratic Party leader, Bernie Sanders joined the similar call.

Sanders, on Sunday, joined the political opposition to the mega deal by demanding the Obama administration to kill it. He tweeted that:

The buy out of Time Warner Inc — a media and entertainment conglomerate which also owns media organisations like CNN — by AT&T — a telecommunications behemoth — at $85.4 billion is considered one of the largest in the world. AT&T agreed to pay 50 per cent of an amount in cash and the other half in stock, says the AT&T press release.

According to Reuters, the deal generated scepticism among both Democrats and Republicans on Sunday, making it more likely that regulators will closely scrutinise the effort to create a new telecommunications and media giant....

I don’t know about this particular business combination being all that bad. As I understand it, Time-Warner owns programming; AT&T needs content for distribution. Time-Warner doesn’t own network type operations which disseminate political opinion.

I realize that the concentration of media power is a big problem, politically and culturally. But, I’m not sure this proposed merger is. I’ll reserve my opinion until more info comes out.

Wouldn`t that be a nice October surprise, and a nail in the coffin for Hillay, if Sanders came out in the next couple of days, and switched his endorsement to Trump?

Not likely, but a statement that he has serious issues with what a Clinton administration would do to this country may be more realistic.

this could be a ploy by Hillary & her new best friend Bernie to divert attention away from the Obamacare rate hikes. The majority of American people care much more about the destruction of our health care system than they do about mergers.

I hope Trump hammers Obamacare instead of trying to woo Bernie voters.
Disaffected Democrats may vote for Trump, but socialists never will.

Time Warner has a cable company and ISP. They are small compared to AT&T, but it's there with millions of customers.

Time Warner owns multiple entities that distribute political content and opinion...most prominently CNN.

Oh, and right now AT&T buys content from every network without favoritism. Because they have no business interest in any of it. That would change with this deal.

Michael Moore says Joe Blow will (and should) vote for Trump.

Bernie should jump on board, too.

This isn’t just Left and Right, it’s physical & economic life and death.

I have the TWC Bundle. It’s gone out 4 times in the last 10 days. When that happens, I’m completely isolated as I don’t have a cell phone.

Hillary stands to lose to much “charity” money by opposing it.

Cable companies. OK when the service works, hell when it doesn’t. All of them. I’ve got Comcast—good 98% of the time, but fixes are slow to none. My sympathies.

Not likely though if he did I’m sure trump could get him an even better vacation home for his troubles.

Time Warner previously sold their cable operations to Charter Communications. The service will be rebadged Spectrum Cable at some point.
