Rattlesnakes can be dangerous and Terrifying
Rattlesnakes are common in certain states others are not. Some like them, some don't, if you encounter one and need to dispose of it. Meet Neal Hunt, he demonstrates the correct, easy, and ethical way to do so. Neal explains it’s the best way to dispose of one, see the video below.
That man bravely picked up the disturbed rattler and snapped it like a bull whip.
The snake dies instantly from the neck break and loses its mobility or any natural body twitch like a bite.
Sometimes if the head is severed, the snake can still bite and the venom will still cause damage. If you are looking to save the skin for a pair of new boots or a cool taxidermy mount, this method allows the snake to remain in good shape.
Although this works very well, we encourage you to just walk the other way and not risk being bit by the snake. See the video here, how many of you brave souls have tried this?

The hunter was climbing up a rocky hillside that had some outcroppings that allowed a handhold to pull himself up as he climbed. On one of those rocky shelf's he reached up and accidentally grabbed a rattler that was sunning its self. Both parties were surprised to say the least.
The snake immediately struck out at the hunters face and neck but as luck would have it the hunter had grabbed the snake at a portion of its body to just allow it to hit at his neck and that was protected by a thick turtleneck. The snake couldn't get leverage to penetrate and was just out of range as long as the hunter didn't let go. The both slid own the hill withe the snake making multiple attempts and the hunter holding it at arms length in a death grip.
He showed up at a ranger station with the snake still in his grip, dead where he had beat it on a rock. The ranger called for help as the hunter had thought he may have been hit. He wasn't as it wasn't his day that day but he was scared near to death.
Well, sometimes a rattler needs to die so people can get a million hits on youtube. Cycle of life.

Snake shot. It’s the only way to be sure. Also I am hearing tales of rattlesnakes that do not have rattles. Apparently they are some kind of mutation and are being seen more and more often in the desert southwest.
Seen my wife’s Grandmother do that while out working in the yard. Sometimes the head pops clean off.

You can do this same thing with a grizzly bear.
Just grab it by the tail.
Ah, yes. My bad. That is always step one in scenarios like this.
I have seen this done with other kinds of snakes. Shoot rattle snakes, all of them to save someone else from being bitten. These things will kill you. Very small rattlesnake BTW!
What if there’s one sunning itself on your front porch?
They need to be killed before they kill you or your children.

How many rattlesnakes have you walked up on? I have walked up on several and I killed them all. I was lucky to be able to do that, they could have killed me.
ONLY for people with VERY good reflexes.
Also, why kill a rattle snake in the wild? If it is on your lawn, farm, or ranch and a threat to your family or livestock, OK. Get your shotgun and shoot it.
In the wild? Just walk away from the rattle sound. After all, they actually are beneficial in some respects because they kill vermin (rats, mice, etc.)

He actually stepped on the head (basically disarming the snake’s ability to bite) and grabbed the tail.
However, that’ not entirely clear from the video.

And also as commented above, not necessary. JUST WALK AWAY from the rattle sound if you are in the wild.
And yes, some idiot is going to try this and get killed. More than one most likely.
We killed a diamondback when I was a kid back in New Mexico. We surrounded it and threw rocks at it and finally beat it to death. We were little savages.
I saw a similar incident at Zuma Beach: A crowd had surrounded a beached Portuguese Man o’ War and was hacking it to pieces.
