RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- Low-income families who want to visit the Science Museum of Virginia will now get to do it at a fraction of the cost.
Local media outlets report that the museum will charge an exhibit admission fee of $1 per child and $2 per adult to families who have an Electronic Benefit Transfer card. If they pay an additional $1, they can watch a movie in the museum's Dome Theatre.
EBT cards are used by low-income families to pay for things like groceries....

I wonder if the Pittsburgh museum gives a similar break for retirees who have paid taxes all their lives.
It's not easy supporting your family, as well as a bunch of freeloaders.
Wow. Not what I expected, she was like a woman possessed.
I had not seen that before. I’m speechless (and so was she, because I did not understand ONE WORD she said). I can’t believe those men waited as long as they did to eject her from the store.
Good grief!
Ah, well...since working people have to pick up the tab for the place, why shouldn’t they give free admission, too?
Free sh-t for all!
I wouldnt bet on that.
My brother had a male registered nurse live across the street from him that was on welfare.
Decided he didnt want to work.
Ended up having Habitat for Humanity remodel his house for him.
I am very suspicious of any kind of welfare or charity anymore. There just doesnt seem to be any real way to filter out the worthy from the unworthy anymore.
I look at going to a museum as a chance for the kid to see that there is more to life then being on the dole. the type of poor parent that would take there kids to the museum is the type I want to see getting a helping hand....If it was discounted concert tickets then I would have a problem especially if the tax payers were on the hook for the price of the tickets.

Then to the library to check out books on nature.”
And then spend the evening at a coffee shop where they will debate Plato versus Aristotle.
A lot of that is due to the federal gov't taking over welfare.
When localities paid for it, local people were quick to report welfare cheats.
OTOH, they might actually learn something if they did manage to find the museum.
No, no! Everything's fine! There's a Chuck-E-Cheese next door, and...
Uh oh. But! Next to it's a Denny's, and...
Oh boy
OUR WHOLE FORMER COUNTRY IS GEARED TO ENABLING NURTURING and ATTRACTING DEPENDENTS, FOREIGN AND DOMESTIC.
It’s disgusting. I see it every day.
“American Values” means giving working peoples’ money and livelihoods away to citizens and non-citizens, law-abiders and criminals, whilst teaching them to despise America and Israel.
Does it have a strip club?
Does it have a strip club?
And costs for everyone else go up, as I suspect EBT is responsible for food prices still rising despite a deflationary environment.
It and green energy mandates are responsible for utility prices going up faster than inflation.
They actually do spend time at the library: computers/iPads with free internet. Somalians especially take advantage of that here. Mostly men and boys, rarely do I see women using them. I’ve looked at what the kids are watching and it varies, but sometimes it’s middle eastern stuff-can’t hear what is said as the computer users have headphones, but I can’t help but wonder if some of it is jihadi propaganda.
Reading is a privilege reserved for the wealthy.
