You’re AN AMERICAN COMPANY, numbskull!

Hitler's armies moved in Ford trucks. (The German owned truck plants were bombed flat by the Americans, but the Ford plant kept churning them out until the First Army reached the Rhine in March, 1945. Production then halted for a couple of months, resuming in May, 1945.) Ford also supplied key components for the V-2 rockets.

So did General Motors - they owned Opel.
Both had operations in Germany going back decades.

FOMOCO is headquartered in Dearborn, Michigan. They are an American company. I can’t speak to what their German subsidiary did during the Nazi period as I doubt that they had a lot of choice in the matter, although Henry Ford was a known anti-Semite.

Ford also helped set up the Gorki Automotive Plant (GAZ) in the early 1930s.

So I’ve heard this about several different companies. What I’ve never heard is if the companies, such as Ford in this case, actually received any of the funds associated with those factories or if the government got them at cost or appropriated profits or required profits to be kept in-country. Does anyone know?
