Regardless of their respective stances on gay marriage, the issue of gay marriage is ultimately a political blunder for both Trump and Hillary imo, constitutionally low-information Trump being played by political correctness.
More specifically, the states have never delegated to the feds, expressly via the Constitution, the specific power to decide policy for marriage, corrupt federal politicians exploiting low-information voters by supporting gay “marriage” to win their votes.
In fact, a previous generation of state sovereignty-respecting justices had clarified the fed’s limited power in general as follows.
”From the accepted doctrine that the United States is a government of delegated powers, it follows that those not expressly granted, or reasonably to be implied from such as are conferred, are reserved to the states, or to the people. To forestall any suggestion to the contrary, the Tenth Amendment was adopted. The same proposition, otherwise stated, is that powers not granted are prohibited [emphasis added].” —United States v. Butler, 1936.
Patriots will need to get constitutionally low-information Trump up to speed on the fed’s limited powers. I think that patriots will find that Trump is a good student.

Patriots need to support Trump / Pence by also electing a new, state sovereignty-respecting Congress that will not only work within its constitutional Article I, Section 8-limited powers to support Trump’s vision for making America great again for everybody, but will also put a stop to unconstitutonal federal taxes and likewise unconstitutional inteference in state affairs.
Unconstitutional interference in state affairs is evidenced by state sovereignty-ignoring, activist justices legislating the politically correct “right” to gay marriage from the bench.
Speaking of activist justices, consider that a new Congress will also probably be willing to fire state sovereignty-ignoring activist justices.
