If you grew up during the era of big wheels, horrid hair styles, and the Reagan administration, you probably grew up thinking that green plant you see above you was a really dangerous item. This is especially true if you grew up a Christian during that era.
I mean, it was the lowest level drug on the list of drugs, but it was the gateway drug. This gateway drug was to be especially feared, because it represented the slippery slope to every other drug or form of immorality. Even trying it once could result in you no longer wanting to wear your denim skirt. Try it twice and you might swap out Sandi Patty for Motley Crue. Three times? Well, by the third time you wouldnt even want it anymore, because youll be in a dark ally buying an even harder drug with the money you got from pawning your wedding ring.
It was all a bunch of nonsense.
All these years later, it is still a bunch of nonsense.

Why have Republicans as a whole, left this issue to the Liberal Democrats? There are many single issue voters out there and I'm guessing this issue is one that gets a lot of them actually motivated to go vote...
I know a dozen or more people that registered to vote for the first time, just so they could vote to legalize in Arizona, thankfully the majority of them will be voting for Trump, but not sure that is typical...
While the Lazy pothead stereotype is common, and does happen with those already inclined to be lazy, its not the general truth I know in real life... I know far too many educated people that smoke pot regularly in social situations or now have their medical card that nobody ever had the first clue they would be pot smokers.
I have also watched what has happened to all my old beer drinking buddies that did not stop drinking when I did, 30 years ago... One that drinks two handles of Ten High a week now, a fully functional alcoholic that goes to work (most) every day he is supposed too... Its a progression I see over and over with alcohol and one I have never seen happen to anywhere close to that extent with weed... at some point most pot smokers finally learn what Gallagher used to joke about, quit smoking when your high, you don't get any higher, just end up with less weed...
God created cliffs and manzanita and poppy seeds and toxic mold, too. Not a good reason to imbibe anything. He created all kinds of things we should not ingest at all and many things we should only ingest for good reason and/or in small doses. Our criteria for “should we ingest it” should not be “did GOD make it?” Or we’d be drinking rattlesnake venom. This line of “reasoning” is preposterous
It's pothead reasoning ... lol
Uh... NO. And a resounding hell no, at that.
It is still schedule 1 and should remain there.
Jesus created Satan too. And Hillary.
God made toadstools too
Isn’t this the same argument as “God created gays?”
Jesus also created scorpions and all sorts of deadly critters. Doesn’t mean I want them as pets.
And poison ivy.
I agree that just because God created something, it shouldn’t be inherrantly considered good or bad. But by the same extension of logic, God gave us Free Will so we could make our own decisions on things such as what we would ingest. At the end of the day, if you don’t like cannabis, don’t smoke cannabis.
We either live in a land with liberty, or we do not.
1 : an element in experience or in artistic representation evoking pity or compassion
2 : an emotion of sympathetic pity
No logic, all emotion.
They have certainly picked the right name for their blog.
I agree. The question is not whether it is healthy or good to smoke marijuana- it is whether those who choose to do so should be arrested and imprisoned.
The bible calls abuse of pharmaceuticals “sorcery”.
The Greek word is pharmakeia
Here is a link to Strong’s concordance: http://biblehub.com/greek/5331.htm
Strong wrote in the mid to late 1800’s, well before our current war on drugs.
Smokey (Chris Tucker) from the movie "Friday.
Hey liberals, Jesus also created arsonic. Start with that.
Because before 1937, people were stupid. The damage done by it’s being illegal FAR outweighs the damage it does from its use. Not even close.
What’s wrong with manzanita? A tea made from the dried leaves is an excellent cure for UTIs.
God created the cannabis plant. (It is useful for making rope, cloth, etc.)
Whether we should use smoked marijuana or not is almost independent of that statement. Whether it should be reserved for medical uses rather than recreation is also independent.
Since medicine has been unable to create good pain medications, marijuana might legitimately be used for that purpose.
As for other uses: That’s another matter, which I shall leave for later discussion.
