First lady Michelle Obama has been encouraging healthy eating and exercise for years, but her efforts have failed to make a dent in the national obesity rate, which has increased since President Barack Obama took office.
According to the results of the Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index, released Wednesday, the obesity rate in the U.S. increased 2.5 percentage points from 25.5 percent in 2008 to 28.0 percent in 2015.
While the national obesity rate is on the rise, millennials (those born between 1980 and 1996) are the one generation that has seen its obesity rate decline. Since 2008, the obesity rate among millennials has declined some 0.6 percentage points from 20.7 percent in 2008 to 20.1 percent in 2015. The non-Millennial generations, on the other hand, have seen their obesity rate increase by 3.8 percentage points in that same timeframe, from 28.7 percent to 32.5 percent.

Amy Schumer weeps.
Well, you have MORE people unemployed/underemployed and on Food Stamps eating cheap, unhealthy, processed food at every meal...OR the reverse with all the Lobster and Steak stories we hear, LOL!
What other outcome COULD be expected?
Yeah! Before Obama I didn’t have a spare tire, didn’t have any grey hair, and I could party until 3AM and still make it to work the next day.
Of course I was in my twenties, but I’m blaming Obama nonetheless.
I’ve noticed a certain gender that today is much, much heavier than in recent years.
Upon further review, I noticed that the gender in question tends to appear to be quite liberal (in both appearance and behavior), although I don’t want to seem biased.
I won’t mention the gender I’m referring to because it might make the feminazi’s mad.
The only solution is to bring back fat shaming and end fat acceptance.
I can’t speak for America, but I know I’m fatter and more stressed out than I was in 2008. Worse, I’m older too. But if Trump wins, I promise to lose that extra 20 lbs., and get younger.
As most of them are without jobs, they're hungry.
And yet I hear these whiney, begging commercials on Rush's show begging for funds to feed hungry children, saying that 1 out of 5 of them are starving.
Fat shaming isn’t the answer either. Most overweight people know they are fat and feel terrible about it.
I’ve had a weight problem all my life despite some really fervent fat shaming by my parents and their doctor, which made me feel so horrible that I ended up sobbing into a box of candy up in my room.
Treating suffering people with problems like crap is NEVER the answer to anything.
What I think is wrong is the dietary advice given out by the govt and the absurd stress and time constraints people are under these days.
When working 2 and 3 jobs to stay afloat, who has time for enough exercise or to cook a meal from scratch? Who is really spending enough time walking around the neighborhood with their kids at night, or around the dinner table with them?
And the dietary advice - UGH. I never was fatter or more miserable than when I was following the standard “low fat” mantra. That advice does NOT work for many of us already fat people since the high carbohydrate content jacks up already-elevated insulin levels and locks the fat in the cells.
It was only when I gave up on it that I realized I felt better and lost weight when I cut out the carbs, not the fat, and my cholesterol also dropped like a rock too. The current dietary advice is killing people.
And this leads to another issue- who the hell can afford fresh meat and quality fresh vegetables (as well as have the time to cook them) in the dismal Obama economy?
When food prices go up the poorer folks fill up on cheaper less healthy junk food.
Your problem can be fixed in Rather Short Order by eating properly.
Please read this and follow the links Karl provides, then search through his site and read EVERYTHING he has Documented about DIET. No I am not picking on you, I truly want to help.

Thanks but I already figured it out. Low carb works for me as it did for Karl (I was a long time member of his board as well).
Age, hormones and a blown out thyroid make it far harder than it should be but at least low-carb works (albeit slowly), unless the standard dietary advice.
