Joel, encouraging us to not be weary.

God has gifted Joel with a ministry of encouragement to the Body of Christ and to those coming to Christ for the first time. God bless him.

I believe J.O. is a fraud - and he dares to stand like Atlas, posing in front of a rotating globe ~

The ‘gospel of prosperity’ this charlatan preaches is in no way concordant with the ACTUAL Gospels!

I am not amused...

Health and wealth is certainly biblical - God's will for his children.

Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers. 3 John 2 (NKJV).

You are absolutely correct. A wolf in sheep’s clothing.

Heartily agree with both of you. He is, indeed, a fraud. Such a waste of a great opportunity to lead so many to Christ.

I’m nether a fan nor detractor of J.O. But some day that globe is going to break off it’s axis and roll over him.

Like so many others, J.O. relies on out of context passages from the Pauline Epistles. He speaks of God as a heavenly magician who will answer all your wildest dreams (with a donation, of course)...

Preaching the prosperity Gospel certainly does wonders for their bank account.

Don’t cast your pearls, or Bible verses for that matter, before swine. The “misery Gospel” folks will never understand. There have been times in my life when an encouraging word from Joel Osteen has helped a lot. The folks who are constantly attacking him have forgotten that covetousness is a close second to pride in the sins of the flesh.

Although Joel talks way too much about what God can do for us, he gave one of the greatest sermons I’ve ever heard. It was the one about the Resurrection power that resides within us believers.

The sermon was full of love, gratitude, and worship for God.

So John wishes that we would be in health and prosper as our soul prospers

Now show us where it’s PROMISED.

And explain to us why not every believer is in that condition.

So preach it to those who were martyred for their faith; the second group of people listed in Hebrews 11.

Hebrews 11:32-38 And what more shall I say? For time would fail me to tell of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, of David and Samuel and the prophets—who through faith conquered kingdoms, enforced justice, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched the power of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, were made strong out of weakness, became mighty in war, put foreign armies to flight. Women received back their dead by resurrection. Some were tortured, refusing to accept release, so that they might rise again to a better life.

Others suffered mocking and flogging, and even chains and imprisonment. They were stoned, they were sawn in two, they were killed with the sword. They went about in skins of sheep and goats, destitute, afflicted, mistreated—of whom the world was not worthy—wandering about in deserts and mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.

And all these, though commended through their faith, did not receive what was promised, since God had provided something better for us, that apart from us they should not be made perfect.

Don’t cast your pearls, or Bible verses for that matter, before swine. The “misery Gospel” folks will never understand.

The reality gospel people certainly do understand.

That sounds like it's describing the prosperity gospel folks, who have their eyes so on the things of this world thinking it will make them happy and is proof of God's blessing in our lives that that is what their focus is on and what they seek after.

Love not the world not the things of this world.

Jesus told us that in this world we would have tribulation but to be of good cheer. Why?

Because He has overcome the world, not because He promised to remove the tribulation from us or give us everything we wanted.

Godliness with contentment is great gain.

Revelation 3:14-22 “And to the angel of the church in Laodicea write: ‘The words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of God's creation.

“‘I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were either cold or hot! So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth. For you say, I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing, not realizing that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked. I counsel you to buy from me gold refined by fire, so that you may be rich, and white garments so that you may clothe yourself and the shame of your nakedness may not be seen, and salve to anoint your eyes, so that you may see. Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline, so be zealous and repent. Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me. The one who conquers, I will grant him to sit with me on my throne, as I also conquered and sat down with my Father on his throne. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.’”

I don’t know. I’m not entirely convinced FR is “the swine” although there are a lot of Pharisees and Sadducees (”they’re so sad you see”) around here and they seem to be the main ones who respond, usually with attacks.

I’ll ask the Lord to help me and lead me about this, but I know God has called me to minister the gospel of the grace of Christ to others. If some are helped, blessed, encouraged, strengthened, even healed, then it is worth the attacks. As Paul said, “There are many adversaries” (1 Cor 16:9). However, if it is so that FR rejects the true gospel of the grace of God, then also by his grace, I will move on.

God bless.

We’ve been over this many times metmom. Health and wealth is certainly biblical - God’s will for his children.

Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers. 3 John 2 (NKJV and many other translations).

Your personal experience or opinion does not trump the Word of God. That’s about all I have to say to you.

And yet again, you have no answer for why all Christians do not enjoy what you claim they are supposed to.

Unless it’s to blame THEM for it.

If I had to chose between someone who preached that God would bless you if you followed his will for you life, and someone who preached that you could take the Mark of the Beast and still be saved, I would go with the former.

My experience is that the more closely I have followed God’s will for my life the more I have been blessed. Now the Hot Tub is almost up to temperature, so I have to go join my wife in the spa. ;-)
