Health Reform: This week Illinois' insurance regulator said ObamaCare premiums in the state will jump as high as 55%. The Obama administration's response to this and other news of massive rate hikes: Don't worry. Be happy.

Anyone shopping for ObamaCare coverage in Illinois this fall is in for a big shock. The average increase for cheap Bronze plans is likely 44%. It's 45% for the lowest-cost Silver plan, and 55% for the cheapest Gold plan.

All of this can be FIXED OVERNIGHT by President Trump!

First, CONgress Will NEVER send legislation to a President Trump repealing Obamacare in it’s entirety, NEVER!!!

But a President Trump could easily issue 2 Executive Orders:

1. All Federal Employees and Retired Federal Employees, SHALL enroll in and purchase their own Personal and Family Health Insurance from the Affordable Care Act Exchange in the State they “Legally” reside in. No Taxpayer Funds Shall be used for ANY Health Insurance for ANYONE.

2. Any STATE that does not have ALL PUBLIC EMPLOYEES and Public Employee Retirees enroll in and purchase their own Personal and Family Health Insurance from the Affordable Care Act Exchange in their State, SHALL receive NO FEDERAL FUNDING FOR EDUCATION.

PROBLEM SOLVED

This and ONLY THIS will Force the Entire Congress to repeal the law, And I would Hope and Pray that a President Trump VETOES ANY Repeal Legislation that is not UNANIMOUS

I meant ‘when WH said ObamaCare baked-in rate hikes and the design unsustainability were a good thing’ was preceding exactly as the progressives had planned.

Those subsidy payments for the 76% are paid for by the 24% who actually pay full price for the insurance, yes?

From what I've read, the ~75% of people on exchanges are heavily subsidized and get additional cost sharing subsidies. Congress is suing HHS to stop the payments because they haven't authorized them. The rest of the people are getting modest subsidies or aren't sure if their income qualifies until the end of the tax year. You can't get subsidies unless the insurance was purchased through an exchange. For people that know their income is too high to qualify they can buy it without going through exchanges. There is around 22 to 24 million people that are covered by private insurance. About half get subsidies.

Obamacare was always considered by the Dems to be the transition to single payer. Once the premiums get too high to bear, the public will demand single payer like Medicare and Medicaid or so the logic goes. The reality is that single payer is almost half of the system now. Medicare has 47 million on it while there are 80 million on Medicaid (including the CHIPS Program).

Throw in the 40 million without any health insurance who get theirs thru the ERs and you are well on your way to single payer.

We’re in Illinois. I’m 65 and I’m retiring this year, and thus will lose my group health plan. So, I will get Medicare, but my wife — who is a few years younger, and has health issues — will lose the group coverage when I retire.

$18,000 - $20,000 a year is a hell of a hit for us to pay for health insurance just for my wife, and at that just for a basic bronze plan that only pays 50% after a huge deductible is met.

So, we’ll be buying her medical equipment and paying cash for her medical visits. If she does not have a major hospitalization before she qualifies for Medicare we’ll be coming out ahead of the game.

A pretty big IF.

Before Obamacare — unless you were unemployed or making minimum wage — health insurance was affordable even for private plans (i.e., not group plans), with total expenses (i.e., premium, deductible, and co-pays) for a husband and wife, for good coverage, was less than $10,000 a year, depending on where you lived.

Now, “Affordable Healthcare” is anything but.

My premiums for a cheap bronze plan are over $5000 a year.
A welfare recipient gets a plan 7 levels higher for free with no deductible or cost.
I need a piece of bone growing into my Achilles removed by surgery. That’s another $6500.
So individual costs a lot.

The only people I am upset with work for the USPS.

For three years now they have lost the $2,500 Check that Obama promised me I would receive after Obamacare Passed.

I disagree; here's another way: what you do is cite the Roe v. Wade decision as establishing a constitutional right to privacy of medical records as precluding the Affordable Care Act precisely because it mandates that those selfsame medical records be made available to the government and toss the ACA on its ear, charging the congress that passed it with Conspiracy Against Rights (a felony) and kicking the case up to the Supreme Court. — The the high court can either overturn Roe v. Wade (and thus open abortion-on-demand to legal attack) to keep the ACA or they can overturn the ACA and keep abortion-on-demand.

Of course your idea and mine could both be used to add even more fuel to the fire provide incentive to overturn the ACA.

And I think that President Trump should be the Plaintiff

Interesting approach? But It might actually WORK.

Ok so we have 2 points of attack, 1 more, and all 3 done simultaneously and it WOULD be killed by a UNANIMOUS vote of Both Houses of CONgress Overnight.

Hm, maybe drop the hammer on it's a tax, not a fee — according to the Constitution all bills raising revenue must originate in the House of Representatives, but the Affordable Care Act originated in the House of the Senate. — What they did was gut an extant bill from the HOR and replace the text in total; this would be somewhat akin to your wife making you a bag of lunch and you dumping it in the trash and filling it with junk-food and then coming home to declare that yes, you did indeed eat everything that was in the bag. (And the USSC gave the nod of approval with the it's a tax declaration.) — I think aiming charges of Deprivation of Rights Under Color of Law at both the Justices of the USSC that concurred, and the members of Congress that issued 'yea' votes.

“Law” is a concept who’s time is passed.

The law, now, is whatever one person says it is.

This is exactly how the Soviet Union operated.

I refuse to get this substandard catastrophic coverage, AND, I also refuse to pay any fine for my refusal.

If they attempt to enforce, I will go to war.

I am not even slightly joking.
