Gingrich: New York Times, Washington Post in 'all-out war' against Trump
The Hill's Ballot Box Blog ^ | July 3, 2016 | Harper Neidig

Former Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) said in an interview broadcast Sunday that two of the country’s most prominent newspapers are in an “all-out war” against Donald Trump.

During a radio interview with John Catsimatidis, Gingrich blasted the news outlets, saying they are lying about the presumptive Republican presidential nominee. “Both The New York Times and The Washington Post have been in an all-out war to try to redefine Donald Trump,” he said.

Gingrich pointed to a Times article that portrayed Trump as often being inappropriate with women. The report relied on testimony from dozens of women who have interacted with the mogul over the years.

Gingrich said that “every single woman in the article [repudiated] the article, and say that The New York Times lied. They didn’t say those things.”

Rowanne Brewer Lane, who dated Trump, said the Times had taken a quote from her out of context.

Gingrich, who is reportedly one of Trump’s top choices for vice president, also argued that it’s clear Trump is a better choice than presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton

.

“If you think that it's OK to have a corrupt, dishonest government in Washington, Hillary Clinton is the perfect candidate, because she’s part of the establishment, she gets it, she understands how to lie about virtually everything,” Gingrich said.

“If you really believe we got to change America back to prosperity and jobs and creativity and dynamics, then Trump is the only candidate in this race that makes any sense at all,” he added later.

I concur. Newt would be an excellent behind the scenes guy. Having him on the ticket as a vp would make it seem like a continuance of old lifelong politicians. Trump needs a young face with little baggage.

Tampa Bay Times (slimes). Their front page story was Trump University and continued to a full page on 4. .Hillary’s story with the FBI was small second page article with a glaring article beneath it about that tweet star crap.

No Newt for VP. Let him be an adviser or Chief of Staff.

Newt is as smart as they come, a brilliant legislative strategist. I too would prefer that he remained a behind the scene operator as CoS, mainly because he was such a lightening rod the last time around and I would prefer to see a new, young conservative face like Tom Cotton. The downside with newness means less seasoned experience in dealing with the Washington Establishment. As CoS, Newt could still work the Hill on legislation. However, if the two men swear to stay loyal to each other, I do not believe their adversaries could touch them. I'm thinking Newt is battle scarred and much wiser and determined than the last time the media took him down.

Yes, I’d much rather see Newt in a “Senior Advisor” role behind the scenes.... allows Trump to get all benefits of his experience and advice without the public baggage.

“... Trump needs a young face with little baggage...”

Well, he’s not young, but Jeff Sessions would be a great VP, IMO...

Sessions has always been a stand up guy with a great demeanor. Might be a big plus for the southern states as well.

The New York Times is the paper that took us to war in Iraq. It was day after day of frontpage headlines urging Bush and the entire government to go to war. Then later they trashed Bush for taking us to war. Evil people. Trump should run ads on it to discredit them.

We should have a poll on the most dishonest print outlets, and the most dishonest televised media. Certainly for major print media, the Washington Post would get my vote, with a lie to truth ratio of about 10:1. Even the truth part is heavily slanted. Times a VERY close second.

Televised media? Good argument could be made for any of them to be in first place in the biggest liar contest.. At the moment, CNN I suppose. None, including FOX, are remotely fair to Trump.

This may end badly for them.

If you try to kill the king, either you succeed, or the king will kill you.

I am rooting for Donald.
