A Brave New World": Commissioners of sports leagues are just as infected as the leaders of media, business, government, higher education and the other pillars of our society
After five decades, the World Golf Championship will move next year from the National Doral golf course in Miami, Florida to a golf course in Mexico City. Since the Doral course is owned by the certain GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump, this decision smacks of political correctness.
At least most objective observers would surmise that politics played a role in this decision; however, such a motive was denied by PGA Commissioner Tim Finchem, who claimed that the tournament was unable to line up enough financial backers. According to Finchem, It is a sponsorship issue. We value dollars for our players. So we make decisions that are in the best interests of our players.
Too bad there are no more golf courses in the USA./s
.
Hope the players have kidnapping insurance and/or life insurance and/or heavily armed body guards.
Trump is going to be POTUS for the next four years will the hissy fit continue for that long?...I hope they lose their shirts in Mexico and I hope the game does not become a target of the cartels...but this is pure insanity IMHO
SCREW the PGA
I won’t buy from advertizers and will let the advertizers know WHY...THE power of the pocket book!
On Saturday and Sunday for several hours this tourney will be on NBC or one of other three letter networks whomever bought the rights. LET the advertizers know you think the PGA is headed by lame brain wussies and you don’t buy products from lame brain wussies...thank you very much!
Grow a set!
Freegards
LEX
The tournament will be called, “The Open Borders Open”..
PGA is doing just what people are concerned with and proves Trump's point about groups/businesses moving out of the USA.
I wonder how much extra security they will have and how much it will cost? This will be a really dumb business decision, but the Left never cares about such things.
Mexico is a hotbed of golf, unlike Florida..

ROTFLMAO!
Another union like organization where the leadership is out of touch with its members.
Never cared for golf. “Golf” is “flog” spelled backwards. You place a ball on the ground and then you `flog’ at it until it kerplunks into a pond whereupon you break your club over your knee, pitch it into the water, then pitch all your clubs into the water and then when your caddie laughs you pitch him in too while the whole time you are loudly swearing the mighty oaths of the deep water sailor.
Then an alligator emerges from the pond & takes your foot off.
No thanks.
;^)
They won’t bring their families!
Hope they all get the runs royally.
Hope some of the major players boycott the tournament. Just refuse to put themselves “ at risk” in the banana republic south of the border.
They have held over 70 games there with only two instances of issues. That is exactly on par with that same amount of games played in the US.
No need for extra security or “kidnapping insurance”
Doral has been a failed tournament venue for many years. Trump spent quite a bit of money trying to revive it, but it was too late and since he could only control inside the boundaries of the property, he could not overcome the fundamental flaws.
The players don’t really like the course, but they like even less the surrounding area. Airports are not a great place for top level tournament golf. I don’t know why Cadillac pulled out, but the fact that the PGA couldn’t find a replacement sponsor hints that the issues go way beyond the fact that Trump jumped into the political ring.
I doubt that Mexico City will work, but the PGA does want to get into the Latin market. My guess is that the money will dry up for Mexico City and the WGC event will go elsewhere in Central America.
Lots of golf fans in the slums surrounding DF.
You take that PGA event from a place like Miami and move it to one of the most polluted, crime ridden cities like Mexico City just for spite and stupidity.
The PGA as far as I am concerned is a Traitor and I hope this backfires on them badly.
they really like to take themselves very seriously.
