The following piece appeared on the Coach is Right website, one day after the death of Marion Barry on November 23rd, 1994. Lest we forget the quality of Democrat politicians.
Now that Marion Shepilov Barry has gone to the great crack den in the sky it is worth noting what a lowlife he was. This is an honest obituary of one of the worst mayors in American history.
*Democrat Marion Barry was the mayor of the District of Columbia from 1979 to 1991 and again from 1995 to 1999. Marion Barry
*Because he loved Communism so much Barry took the middle name Shepilov to honor one of his heroes, Dmitri Shepilov a Soviet Communist propagandist he admired.
*In his second term he developed his cocaine habit and the corruption in his administration began to surface. Barry opted to combat the town’s unemployment problems with massive civil service hiring. At one point an inquiry found that no one in the Barry Administration could say with certainty how many people worked for the District of Columbia.
*On January 18, 1990 a six year investigation of Barry ended in his arrest for drug use and possession. A videotape of the episode was broadcast on national television. It included the now famous tagline from Barry, “Bitch set me up.”
*He was sent to prison in Petersburg, Virginia where he received visitors. One such visitor, a female, was witnessed by a roomful of people including children, performing oral sex on the happy Mayor Barry.
* In 2005 Barry pleaded guilty to charges involving his failure to pay federal income taxes. He also failed court ordered drug tests, but being an African American Democrat has thus far protected him from being sent back to prison in spite of at least three...
