He always opens a new relationship with a smile and a warm handshake. He tells the other side that he’s committed to reaching a deal that satisfies all parties, and promises to be a fair and honest dealer.
He then waits for them to transgress against his honorable position, and lowers the boom. As we’ve seen, none who have crossed him, have survived.
Ryan’s just committed himself and the House Republicans to unifying with Trump. If he falters or back pedals even an inch, Trump will have him by the short and curlies.
