Just a personal comment. Never before have I seen America at the brink of civil mutiny as I see these days. Yes, I know the reasons. I follow the news just like everyone else. Just sayin'...

I think the Dems changed their primary process in ‘72. Of course Nixon was running in ‘72, so his nomination was through acclamation.
And in ‘76 we saw how messed up stuff got between Reagan and Ford.
I am pretty sure that there haven’t been significant changes in either party since then.
I am guessing we will see protesters at the Republican Convention, with participants walking out over this or that.
However, I think there will be more upsetting events in Philly at the Dem Convention. The Dems seem to get more “out of control” in their protests. Also, being in Philly, I am sure the cops there are going to be, well, Philly cops.
Cleveland does not seem as troubled as Philly might be.
I just have a feeling its going to be a long, hot summer. All we need is a single cop, shooting a single black kid right before either of the conventions.
If the left protests the Rep convention it will be mostly rent a mobs. I don’t think it will be a big deal.

Looks like The Cruz delegates just want to make trouble. Cruz has ill will towards Trump. Instead of joining and helping him improve America he is planning to takeover the convention. Ron Paul like tactics.
The primary to me was eye opening. The GOP is really Democrats. The conservatives for Cruz are the worst. They don’t understand the harm they are doing to the conservative ideology by trying to stop the will of people.

Pretty much describes some of Upstate South Carolina. Family is full of red neck good old boys. Family, church, guns, hunting, then fishing are their priorities. They moan and groan about the Feds, but they are also paid first responders. They know which side that their toast is buttered on.
