Sorry to hear this. Try to stay optimistic. If caught early, prognosis should be pretty good.

I had breast cancer around 7 or 8 years ago. Some things I learned:

Get both of your breasts removed if they are going to remove one. Do it even if they don’t recommend it as there is a good chance of it returning if you don’t get your breasts removed. They found tiny tumors in my “good” breast after they removed it. This may sound weird, but he Holy Spirit woke me out of a deep sleep with the shout “get both breasts removed” and so I told the surgeon and he agreed. He said it is the best way to be sure breast cancer does not return. The Oncologist thought it was nuts. Hopefully, your’s has not spread beyond the breast like mine.

Another thing. If you decide to get breast reconstruction surgery, they will use muscles from your back in the operation and this will weaken your upper body in a big way. It’s not worth it unless vanity is major for you. Fake boobies are fine under clothing. My husband likes me with or without boobs. Lucky me. : ) They don’t talk to you about the consequences of breast reconstruction surgery. A nurse friend warned me about it because she knew I was active and into sports.

I said a prayer for you. Don’t be afraid.

I am sorry you have this dx.

PLEASE AVOID THE ONCOLOGY SCAM. Research ALL your choices carefully. Here is the scam:

You go in and sit in the doctor’s office. With your loved one. Possibly you’ve been worried, even crying, since you got the dx. Doc tells you there are a few ways to go. First off surgery. I agree: this is necessary, have the smallest surgery possible, but have it. Lumpectomy if possible. Get it all though. Ok, back to the Scam:

Then, thereafter, he’s got your choices. We could wait and see (IF HE EVEN DARES TELL YOU ABOUT THIS OPTION), or we could fight it with all we’ve got. Chemotherapy, radiation... Your loved one will say he wants them to fight it with all they’ve got. He can’t lose his beloved wife/mom/sister. That is the scam.

The treatment decision is the reason why breast cancer patients live less long. Be careful. Waiting is an option in a high percentage of cases. Chemotherapy saves lives only in the severest of cases. Since it is a primitive treatment, it hurts many more women than it heals. It destroys your immune system. Please be FULLY informed and do not trust current oncology. It is too huge an industry.

Breast cancer oncology is like a tunnel of suction. Each step you take into the breast cancer oncology tunnel, you are closer to being sucked into the next level. Be careful. Be smart. Be proactive. Get at least SOME of your info from outside the oncology world. They use the emotions of your family members to get your money. And destroy your immune system, shortening your life by up to 10 years (and not from cancer).

Many small breast cancer tumors would never have bothered you again. We can’t KNOW this, though. So removal seems like a safe gamble. But thereafter, if they say they got it all, WAITING before destroying your body with poisons and radiation IS one of your options. It will be hard to resist their hard sell for chemo etc. They will be telling you they want to “fight” every cancer cell that might have spread through your body. There are cancer cells in all of our bodies. With working immune systems, they don’t hurt us. Try to keep and strengthen your immune system (immune system is the biome of bacteria that allow us to live). It and Gd are the reason you are here.

If you choose to follow their path and trust them through the system, fine. Just learn everything else FIRST before you do.

Prayers for you, for healing of body and peace of mind and spirit.

My mother survived breast cancer twice, and my best friend has reached six years without recurrence.

(((hugs)))

Prayers up - we have several friends who have gone through the ordeal and are OK today - some with more surgery than others but they are happily and healthily alive with prospects for a full life ahead of them.

I pray God touches you with His healing love and keeps you in good spirits.

You will obtain the best possible odds for survival by seeking out a sophisticated cancer clinic that specializes in the treatment of cancer. Do not waste time and risk your life to local doctors who deal with this as a sideline. They are frequently out of date with their knowledge bank.

The clinics are staffed with many up-to-date specialists who can decide on a team basis the optimum treatment based on the specific details of your case and the latest research. The survival rates have increased dramatically in just the past decade if you are treated by the experts.

The outcome of your case will not be based upon simple luck or the best wishes and prayers from your friends and sympathetic folks on this forum. It will be based primarily upon you making timely, wise choices. Help yourself. The odds are much in your favor.

Best wishes.

They will use treatment based on your DNA.
Hormone therapy or a medicine for certain markers you have or directed radiation.

Have several friends with it, some also with lung cancer and they are expected to live their full life, so don’t be of little faith.
Medicine has come a long way since 96 when my mom died. Way beyond Tomaxathin today.
