Trump Kid Likens GOP Election Process to 'Communist China'
WeeklyStandard.com ^ | APR 20, 2016 | JIM SWIFT

After a big win in his home state of New York, three of Donald Trump's children joined Fox News's Sean Hannity for an interview. Donald Trump Junior went on a rant after being asked a question by Hannity on Team Trump's inability to secure delegates.

Hannity said, "What do you make of all the issues of the last two weeks about delegates? For example, in states like Georgia, South Carolina, places that were kinda long forgotten...."

"Yeah. Well, it's amazing," said Trump Jr. "When you let the voters vote, we do incredibly well, you know? But when you try and suppress that, it's a different system. That system makes sense 200 years ago, Sean. 150 years ago, when people lived on a farm. They didn't have the Library of Congress in their fingertips on their iPhones. They didn't have access to information. It no longer does. We have to let the American people decide. I mean, it's actually a joke. I feel like I'm in Communist China sometimes watching this stuff. You know, it's crazy. When the American people get to vote, we win!"

2 questions:

1. Source for your bar chart?
2. Why is Ronald Reagan not on it?

Weren’t these the same Trump kids that “forgot” to register GOP to vote in the Primary? And they have any credibility regarding elections? Trump SOP.

Well, they seem to be in every court thus far.

Oh, you mean Cruz isn’t eligible for being born with a Fabulous silver spoon in his mouth.

Can you imagine that? He won without his own kids voting for him! Imagine how many people were in that category. I got a reply from a NY Freeper last night who said he couldn’t vote Republican. IIRC, Sean Hannity is also in that class because he is a registered Conservative in New York. All these folks will be able to vote in the general election.

TOOT! TOOT! TOOOOOOOT! All Aboard the TRUMP TRAIN!

Cheering on the destruction of the protections of the Constitution is an odd thing for Constitutional conservatives

Barry Soetoro/Barack Hussein Obama should be proof enough of the wisdom of the founders when they tried to prevent him from being President by requiring someone who could only be a US citizen and nothing else.
Born here of citizen parents.
Naturally a US citizen because there is no other possibility.
One cannot be anything else and also be a natural born citizen.

Obama told us he was born a British Subject.

Who believes Washington, Jefferson, Adams, Jay, Monroe, Madison, etc. would have found him to be a natural born citizen?

Usurpation Day, January 20, 2009, happened with the complete cooperation of both parties.
They want the Constitution changed without the hassle of amending the Constitution.
Confuse people about the clear meaning of a three word phrase and voila, every anchor baby and Winston Churchill is eligible.

The bench was the reason the GOP went along with the fig leaf resolution for McCain that was used by the Democrats as cover for Obama.
Jindal, Rubio, Haley and Cruz were all up and comers and the future of the party and ineligible.

Do you know what that listing is worth?

Trump just got 61% of the New York vote and Tead got 15%.

This list of unfavorables is laughable.

Hillary Clinton won yesterday too.

She is leading her party and Trump is leading ours.

Duh!

The chart comes from WOPO - this is from Gallop:

Donald Trump is broadly unpopular with national adults, more so than any other major candidate of either party. Over the past week (Feb. 26-March 3), Trump was seen favorably by 30% of the country, while twice as many U.S. adults saw the GOP front-runner unfavorably (63%).

Trump got about 519,000 votes in New York... (Hillary got 1,037,000)

One of the best things about America’s Constitution is that vigilante pinheads don’t get to say what is law, the courts do.

He understands Federalism quite well. He’s very articulate and knowledgeable.

Federalism is firstmost a theory. Its application is imperfect. If it wasn’t imperfect, the history of federalism would have been much different.

The challenge of each generation is to make ALL components of a democratic-republic work, not just its federalist component.

The will of the people is theoretically expressed through a federalist structure. The federalist structure is necessary to preserve the rights of the minority, including farmers and ranchers, from being taken out by the will of the mob. There is a delicate balance which is made strong by a foundation of honor and ethics. Without this foundation, we get the likes of Romney.

The popular vote should in all but rare cases be reflected in votes of delegates or in the appointment of US Senators prior to the 17th Amendment. The history of the 17th Amendment goes back to the original Constitutional Convention where a hybrid design of federalism and democracy was established.

The same founding structure exists in the Electoral College. Only two times in the history of the United States has there been a disconnect between the electoral college and the popular vote, Rutherford B. Hayes and George W. Bush. And in both instances the popular vote difference was small and the EC votes were allowed to pass without popular uprising.

But the popular vote difference between Donald Trump and his opponents is not small. It is very large.

Donald Trump Jr. understands that with such large differences in popular will there must be an accompanying delegate expression. The poaching and preselection of delegates by #NeverTrump and its Romney minions are indeed an expression of corruption. Many of the Romney delegates of 2012 can be found as retreads in supporting Cruz and becoming delgate double agents for Cruz.

History repeats. The same breakdown in honesty and ethics preceded the 17th Amendment and led to the 17th Amendment. The 17th Amendment was actually an Article V grassroots-led effort although its formulation was quite different than what Congress eventually passed.

The grassroots effort was ignored until it became apparent that there were enough states to actually pass it. Within weeks, Congress wrested control of the Amendment effort and proposed the 17th Amendment and chose to send it to state legislatures who were the corrupt bodies that the will of the People were opposed to. Congress proceeded to damage federalism by writing an amendment that took a huge component of federalism out of the US Constitution. The result has been a massive concentration of power towards the federal government.

The long and short is that when there is an imbalance between the will of the People and its federalist heritage, enormous changes ensue and not all of them good.

Donald Trump Jr. is pointing out this imbalance. This is not a rare disconnect between popular will and delegate structure, it is a contrived imbalance based on corruption. The delegates that are standing in Trump won districts but are pledged to Cruz are people of deceit. The Party of Reagan cannot tolerate such people. They have to go and they will go out from the party.

In communist China the government controls the party.

In the US, there is a competition of more than one parties, and the parties themselves control their own selection process.

I would hope that Junior understand the differences and isn't suggesting anything different.

Ted Cruz would condemn Communist China and Iran for selecting an approved list of candidates ahead of time. But in the US, he calls it “following the rules”.

2. Why is Ronald Reagan not on it?

Probably because Reagan's negatives were pretty high at this point also. Ronald Reagan trailed Jimmy Carter for much of the 1980 campaign, but wound up winning a solid ten-point victory.
