Then googled Free Republic Down and got this site below. It said the server was down for everyone.

I think it was the database. Using the hosts file workaround, I was able to get to the landing page, but clicking on the ‘Jump right in’ link brought up an nginx database error page.

Dear old dad was a slide rule whiz and kept his skill up to the date of his passing. I retired a few months ago and honestly cannot remember how to do a v-lookup or pivot in excel.
