Man accidentally 'deletes his entire company' with one line of bad code.
A man appears to have deleted his entire company with one mistaken piece of code.
By accidentally telling his computer to delete everything in his servers, hosting provider Marco Marsala has seemingly removed all trace of his company and the websites that he looks after for his customers.
Im not sure when, I just know that at some point this bad code will come in handy, and wow! Thats some powerful code!
The problem command was "rm -rf": a basic piece of code that will delete everything it is told to. The rm tells the computer to remove; the r deletes everything within a given directory; and the f stands for force, telling the computer to ignore the usual warnings that come when deleting files.
Thats right, one line of code and its like it never happened.
It seems an extreme measure, butt at some point it may be our best option for removing all traces of the Obama years.
Absent that dramatic measure there is this witchs spell from the Warren Book of Shadows that you might try:
Although unlike the bad code, I dont think the witchs spell is guaranteed. So if you want to ensure that all trace of what will otherwise be noted in history books as the dark years of the Obama period is erased, were going to need to employ the code. Keep it handy.
And youre welcome.
I feel sorry to say that your company country is now essentially dead. - The Independent

Wouldn’t it be great to see Obama’s entire legacy of destruction erased in the next presidents first month in office? Something positive to wish for.

The command is rm -rf *
Without the star, nothing would have been deleted.
:P
that right there is funny.
“Wouldnt it be great to see Obamas entire legacy of destruction erased in the next presidents first month in office? Something positive to wish for.”
All the EOs can be rescinded but legislation and court rulings not so easily. But it is a happy thought and hopefully Trump or Cruz will make the supreme effort.
The three most important words in all of IT and computing are:
backup, backup, and backup./sarc
Shouldn’t “Country” be “Company” in the headline?
Perhaps the Fed? Erase the national debt? Debt Jubilee?
At the same time, it’s hard to believe it wasn’t deliberate.
“Back it up, before you jack it up”
We should be able to erase the debt. The Fed creates money out of thin air then charges interest on it. That’s getting something for nothing.
Nothing, is what they should get in return.
Micro Soft came up with a truly insidious way to do something like that to you in Win7: Unlike in XP, when you copy a file from one folder to another in the Explorer window, it “highlights” the folder you copy to (does not keep the original file highlighted). When you then hit ‘delete’, *poof* the whole folder is gone! Found out the hard way when I switched from XP. Thanks, MS! (Usually I ‘move’ instead of ‘copy’, but that one time...)
Used to include a “$DESTROY SYSTEM” card in my Fortran deck back in the day. Didn’t work.
