The "True Believers" place their blind ideology above life and country.

Most of those being hoodwinked are Ted Cruz ideologues. Rigid supporters who are blinded by very intense and narrow litmus test interests; and they have no idea their puritan intensity is being used against them.

There are a number of angles to this.

1. They don’t want big names having to stand up with Trump and endorse his nomination

2. They don’t want big names associated with the full on melt down that will take place if Curz gets his way

3. It’s a lot easier to play it up that this is an out of control process, all Trump’s fault if only minor players are participating

4. The party knows it’s going to take a hit, and wants to distance everyone they can to minimize the damage. Republican careers will end at this convention, and they know it.

Don't know if the've been hoodwinked or are just GOPe loyalists who see the benefit to the GOpe if Cruz is kept around for awhile. On the other hand, many here have been hoodwinked (or have gone all Beck and Levin) if they actually believe that Cruz is chaste and pure and not tied to the GOPe. Or...that the GOPe won't use him to stop Trump, betray him (like he's betrayed his supporters and principles) and discard him - they get the double benefit of ruining him for future attempts.
