SCOTIA - If we can believe the polls, then Ted Cruz has very little, if any chance of winning New York's GOP Primary, however because the Texas senator is now virtually on the heels of national front runner Donald Trump -- only 3 points behind -- delegates in New York matter.
"At this point I think we're probably looking at an open convention," State Assemblyman Steve McLaughlin (R - Melrose) predicts, "I think anything can change pretty rapidly but that's the way it looks right now."
The overwhelming majority of rally goers at Mekeel Christian Academy in Scotia on Thursday were there to support the man, many of whom believe has the right set of values to overcome the less-than-flattering comments he made about New York values earlier in the campaign.
"As a believer in the sovereignty of God, I believe in who He has chosen for us to be our next president," says Raechelle Peron, of Northville, "And I hope it's Cruz."
"It's good to see a man who knows the constitution, who breathes the constitution, and who has the experience fighting for the rights of little people," say Joanne O'Hara, of Guilderland.
"There's a significant part of the country and it's a silent segment that has not been represented for quite some time," says Lori Dollard, of Voorheesville.
Outside the rally site, there were pockets of opposition: There was a house across the street from the school decked out with a Hillary for President banner; there were several dogs dressed up with Trump signs; there was a man in a lawn chair holding a Trump sign; and there were Bernie Sanders campaign signs as well.
Kaitlin Krauser, one of the Sanders supporters says if she could convince just one of the people to take a look at her candidate, she will have done her job.
Travis Bailor, a Trump supporter, pointed out the race is drawing a lot of people of varying political stripes, because they're "really looking for something different."
When all was said and done, people were just happy to have been a part of the event.
"I'm so excited," said Marie Brooks, of Scotia, "It's history in the making."
I agree completely.
While I (strongly) think that the Cruz trolls are very excessive, and I am personally fed up with the entire GOP party, I am very much on their side as far as being free to support who then want, when they want, with as many spams as they want to post.
Because frankly it is spam now. But I am completely opposed to what you are saying.
FR is the best site on the entire internet. Even if it temporarily is being disrupted by Cruz spammers.
Do not say to posters, that they should not contribute.
That is way overboard.
ultimate consequences come from God. hope all enjoy.
Maybe Toddasaurus should be renamed “Toddsnowflake” and run off to his “safe zone.”
I like your spirit. Bravo!
Thank you. It’s true!
And what, pray tell, would the left make of the sayings of some Trumpsters on this forum? ................................ According to what I read on DU the other day, FR is now the new Storm Front site, and everyone on it is stupid KKK racists. Take it with a grain of salt, the DU’s are complete wackos over flowing with hatred and vitriol. What a sad bunch, they need jobs and responsibility, I guess that’s why they hate Trump so much. They don’t want jobs. If JFK was President today, they would have Booed his “Ask not” speech. I have to day one thing though, in my 77 years this has got to be the worst election in my life, and sadly the most entertaining. Its like I’m playing my harp as the U.S,A. Burns. The days of President Comacho are approaching.
No can do kimosabe
I've defended the right of a free people to peacefully speak their minds, regardless of whether I felt they were obnoxious or brilliant or bat-hanging crazy. You're asking me to betray my principles - and throw the baby out with the bathwater on top if it all. Nothing personal, but a FR boycott ain't happenin'.
ouch that hurt.
absolute truth.
just like vodka... but it makes you sober.
“however because the Texas senator is now virtually on the heels of national front runner”
Don't be an ass. If we stop donating because of other asses, we become just as bad as them. Some way to show "principles". Besides, I have pointed out many Cruzers who don't donate - while claiming to have solid conservative ethics and morals ... as they reap the benefits of what others are paying for.
Take your boycott plan and shove it up yer butt - ot come out as a "Cruz or Lose"er.
I completely agree. BUMP!
