Don could make Nikki Haley Secretary of Defense.
Active Duty ping.
The military is not civilian, and operates — and SHOULD operate — under different laws. I respect Sikhs, and I would welcome their renowned courage and loyalty to my foxhole anytime. But there can only be one set of rules in the military. And NO exceptions.
I didn’t read the article. an (FR privilege)
I’ve yet to hear of Sikh’s having a less than honorable service in this country.
There are purported Hawaiian infiltrator/traitors ...
How does all that work with a Gas Mask?
Volunteering to serve in the military isn’t a right. Conform with combat proven US military standards or move on.
The volunteer military was just fine the way it was.
Why is it that US institutions always have to make
allowances these days? Why can’t those who are leaders
of the faith allow special dispensation for those who
choose to join the US military? Is it because the Sikh
leaders reside in India?
Sure, why not?
It used to be, before things became so politically correct, that the Army had regiments of soldiers who were all one thing. The buffalo soldiers come to mind, there was a highly decorated troop of Japanese-Americans during WW-II, and there were other groups as well. Perhaps there should be a Sikh-American division, where beards were allowed, and a distinctive Army issue turbin for the soldiers in that group, this regiment would be exclusively for Sikhs. (I am not sure of the proper name to call such a group, troop? regiment?)
I wear a cape, religiously. It is flourescent green.
The Sikhs get their own uniform rules, because of their rights of religious conscience, but hey, you’d better bake that cake or you’ll lose your business.
This country is done.
bkmk
Kevlar turban?
“Now you can tattoo your body from toenail to eyeball and if you want to wear long hair and a beard why not, its Obamas Heroes.”
I read that the Marines were tightening up restrictions on Tats a while back. I guess any Marine of soldier who can make a credible argument about religious liberty can flout that reg too?
But hey, someone wants a turban exception for his non-Christian display of faith in the uniformed services? No problem.
America is f****d.
