According to Good Ol Lee Atwater: When infidelities are discovered: Hide the spouse Take her off the trail Block contact Delete Social Media Present female spokesperson as intercepting agent for candidate Keep interceptor with candidate at all times Deny Deny Deny
. until denial is no longer a plausible option ♦ The interceptor is to deflect attention away from the campaign. ♦ The Candidate must not answer direct questions. ♦ Reassert candidates humility perspective. This becomes paramount to give space if needed in phase two. Phase Two Interceptor drops out. When/if the candidate can no longer hide the infidelity, the reasons for prior obfuscation/denial was embarrassment. Phase Two ends with re-entry of spouse to deliver the we will heal / together speech. Surround candidates optic with friends and family; or carefully host private one-on-one interview. http://theconservativetreehouse.com/2016/03/29/atwater-evasion-video-senator-ted-cruz-dodges-answering-questions-about-infidelity/

Denial is ALWAYS plausible.
A long time ago my girlfriend at the time found lipstick in my bathroom. I lived alone. And it wasn't hers.
I told her she left it there, she has a bad memory, it was the cat's, she had a concussion long ago that affected her memory of leaving it there, “if i was gonna cheat, do you think i’d leave any evidence behind”, swore on somebody's grave (felt bad about that one) and I forget what else. and she dropped it after about an hour :)
I'm stunned to this day. Wish i could call her and ask “how the hell could you believe me?”

Deny Deny DenyThis is reminiscent of Bill Clinton's 9-point plan that he used for dealing with this kind of thing:
- Deny!
- Deny!
- Deny!
- Delay!
- Delay!
- Delay!
- Attack!
- Attack!
- Attack!
