Kasich won Ohio; therefore he has to stay in.

Why?

Because if Kasich dropped out according to Ohio election law all of his 66 delegates become bound to the second place finisher, Donald Trump.

John Kasich cannot exit the race without helping Donald Trump.

The article says that’s the Ohio GOP policy on dropouts. It certainly explains why Kasich is acting so douchy while having no chance. Cruz has no chance either but by some combination of cosmic interference and Kasich hanging around there’s a way to keep Trump to like 1150. And Ted Cruz is the ESTABLISHMENT guy in all this, the sentinel, so to speak, saving all that is good and great on K Street.

I have s singly serious question:

Why is it, when Trump announced he was campaigning for POTUS on the ^Republican^ (brand) ticket, no one from the GOPe stepped back and said -— wait a minute Donnie, you can’t do that with our brand?

Why has Reince Priebus continued to acknowledge that DJT is running as a Republican yet agitates against him and his campaign efforts?

Hmmmmm?

As I said this is HUGE especially seeing how Jindal has been beaten like a pinata on FR over and over again!

What happens if Kasich takes it to the convention. He won’t be in nomination so where do those 66 delegates go?

“I have s singly serious question:”

You have two complex questions instead of one simple one.

First question from Cletus:

“Why is it, when Trump announced he was campaigning for POTUS on the ^Republican^ (brand) ticket, no one from the GOPe stepped back and said -— wait a minute Donnie, you can’t do that with our brand?”

Marktwain’s reply:

How do you know that what you suggest is even true? Quite a few commentators suggested that Trump was not a serious candidate.

Cletus’ 2nd Question:

Why has Reince Priebus continued to acknowledge that DJT is running as a Republican yet agitates against him and his campaign efforts?

Marktwain’s reply:

Because he does not want him to win the Republican nomination? Why else?

Reince Priebus does not control who can or cannot run as a Republican candidate. That is what he is agitated about.

American political parties cannot actually stop someone from running for their nomination. The parties in other countries can. They seriously believed that Trump would flame out in a couple of months.

Why has Reince Priebus continued to acknowledge that DJT is running as a Republican yet agitates against him and his campaign efforts?

While American political parties cannot stop someone from running, they can make it difficult.

As an aside, it looks like America is an actual democracy (see note below). I am basing this on Cruz grinding the Senate to a halt (on occasion), Boehner losing his speakership, Cantor losing his seat, and Trump demolishing a field of useless candidates.

*When I say democracy I mean democracy as opposed to elected aristocracy (e.g., UK), elected dictatorship (e.g., Russia) or dictatorship (e.g., China), not democracy vs. republic.

I guess at some point after the first ballot they would become unbound.

What an excellent question. Could you let me know when you get an answer? Logically, it would seem they would go to the second place finisher. I wonder if there are any other cases like that which could put Trump over the top unless the RNC changes the rules at the convention. In which case all *ell would break loose.

Cletus.D.Yokel :" Why has Reince Priebus continued to acknowledge that DJT is running as a Republican
yet agitates against him and his campaign efforts?"

Because 'RINSE Previous , then Rinse again', and his mentor , Karl Rove
didn't perceive of "The Donald" as a threat to their control of party POWER !
That is why they flooded the "also rans " in order to water the threat down from their favorite, "next-in-line" , Yeb !
They flooded the party too late to be realistic. They ran everyone ,except for Harold Stassen - P.S. - He's dead !
The problem is , they didn't count on the voters getting sick and tired of the UNI-Party lack of real leadership, and acceptance of their lack-luster pablum !
That is why , RINSE , repeat, and RINSE isn't working anymore than "Rove, the Retarded" isn't being swallowed anymore !!

I read the source linked by Conservative Treehouse.

I am a fan of Conservative Treehouse.

I could not find the rule they claim is there.

I would appreciate it if someone would point it out to me.

I do not see it.

Your response, I believe, is the direction I intended in my post.

The GOPe made a YUGE mistake by initially taking DJT (and his moolah!) at face value as a Pubbie. It is now too late for the GOPe to back away.

That said, I think that DJT will give us (The States of the U.S.) what he has promised at that same face value.

I’d rather that Cruz were the leader but DJT is simply “the first step” in recovering our republic. We have surrendered in several small steps, we should recover in small steps also. The pendulum doesn’t swing to the right without passing through the middle first.

ne c’est pas?
