CRUZ on kindly back to Texas, Ted. 1237 is an unattainable number.
The Green Papers 2016 Presidential Primaries, Caucuses, and Conventions ^ | March 17, 2016 | Myself/Vanity

According to the latest primary results compiled at Green-Papers, it is certain that it will be impossible for Ted to reach the 1237 delegate count or comply with Rule 40 for the nomination. See the link, analyze the stats. and tell me, Why is Ted still in this race?

Yes, you are exactly right. Cruz would need to win 89.8% of the remaining 906 pledged delegates to get to 1237.

Trump needs to win 60% to get to 1237.

“But it doesn’t matter. You’ll be gone as soon as the primaries are over.”

Or, perhaps you will, since you don’t appear to be the owner of the site.

If he can be more conversational and less scripted, he can do well.

Just read down the thread and saw your comment. I agree completely - Cruz is very personable when he shifts out of campaign mode. Dogged determination may be a strength of his, but its his one great flaw as well.

If Cruz supporters want this process to end and want to crown Donald, they will make that known by voting for Trump in the upcoming states. If they don’t, then that is why we require a delegate majority. Opposition to a candidate is just as important to picking a nominee as is support for a candidate.

If Trump needs Cruz to drop out to get to 1237, then why should Cruz drop out without Cruz and his supporters getting anything in return from Donald? If Trump can get there on his own, then let him do it.

Trump only has 39% of the popular vote so far. It is possible that a majority of the voters are firmly against him. If that’s true, it would be an injustice to let him get the nomination. The delegates are part of this process so that they can put human intelligence to selecting a nominee when nobody wins a majority. Without one person winning a majority, there is no way to know who the majority would prefer as their “consensus candidate” until the ballots are cast at the convention.

I totally disagree that Cruz can’t comply with Rule 40. He needs the majority of delegates in 4 more contests to get there. At his current pace, he will do so, and may have an easier time of it with Rubio out of the race. Utah, Montana, Nebraska, South Dakota...upcoming states like that have gone for Cruz with huge margins. Those could be 4 where he can easily get the majority of delegates...3 are WTA.

But it doesn't matter. You'll be gone as soon as the primaries are over.

Based on what I've seen, all of these new Trumpsters haven't exactly been donating to the cause. I'm guilty, too, of inconsistent donations, but I have paid into the kitty.

These new Trumpeteers may be around a bit longer than the primaries, but they will most assuredly fade away.

No doubt about it, JimRob is on the Trump Train...I've already been blasted for suggesting that I may sit this one out. There's a popular mantra out there, and it's everywhere and on Free Republic, that anyone who doesn't vote for Trump in the general is betraying this country.

Well, I served on active duty for 8 years, and held my nose for plenty of establishment Republicans from 1992 to 2012 (I voted for Reagan in 80 & 84, of course), and being told I'm betraying my country doesn't sit well with me.

What's everybody going to do if the leading delegate winner in the primaries doesn't get the nomination? Don't discount the RNC, not after the crap they pulled in Mississippi.

I'm simply saying that we won't come together with the inflammatory rhetoric that's been flying from all sides. You don't get anywhere calling people idiots, traitors, a--holes, etc.

The good news is that Trump is turning his sights on Hillary, and I wish that Cruz would get back to the issues instead of poking fun at Trump. Enough already!

Thanks for that trip down memory lane, boss. I still have memories of when FR had that old layout.

My eldest, who’s now 19, was just one month old when that first link was posted. I think I had a total of three grey hairs, then. LOL

Mr. Valentine,

Can you post a link to those AZ polls showing Ted’s numbers, please?

Sheriff Joe is a very strong AZ endorsement for Trump.

This primary season has been a clinic on why its not wise for a campaign to rely almost entirely on negative branding of the opposition - it tends to create hard feelings among people who's support you will later need.

Reasonable conservatives will suck it up and support Trump but he didn't need to make it this hard.

Using that logic, Cruz has even less and it would be an even greater injustice for Cruz to get the nomination.
