Last week, I listened to Erick Erickson state that he could not vote for Donald Trump, because it would be a betrayal of his values. The radio host asked him that if it came down to a choice between Hillary Clinton and Trump, would he not prefer Trump?
No, replied Mr. Erickson, who again stated that supporting Trump would be a betrayal of his values. The host was a bit taken aback, and tried to reason with Erickson. Surely, he didn't mean that he would prefer Hillary to Trump.
Yes, Erickson bluntly said, he would prefer Hillary as president. He would not support Trump under any circumstances, because being true to his values was paramount.
I am thankful the host continued to question and push Mr. Erickson on his position, forcing him to take it to its logical conclusion: he would prefer to see Hillary as president rather than Trump. Erickson's actual values were revealed.
Hillary Clinton stood next to the casket of an American soldier and lied to his parents' face for pure political gain.
That--THAT--is in line with your values? Apparently so. When standing by your "values" means you are OK with that, then you have lost the moral high ground.
Arguments (including spirited arguments) about the Republican nomination are fine; this isn't a game after all, it is serious business. But, when Erick Erickson (and the rest of the #NeverTrump crowd) says that they would prefer Hillary to Trump, they gone too far. Hillary Clinton is unacceptable as president--period. If that's not a point you can agree on, then don't lecture on values, because you have none.
“Like Medved he is an establishment hack. Medved praised romney on his speech yesterday.”
I used to tolerate Medved when nothing better was on (and some of his movie reviews were informative). As of a few months ago I can’t switch channels fast enough.
Note to Messrs. Erickson and Shapiro: I am all in for Cruz, but your statements are something I will never forget. Anyone who would vote for Hillary in order to thwart the will of the GOP voter has no place on our side of the aisle. NONE.
Then he is a JINO A Jew in name only. What a putz!
Eric shut up and go play with that nice new boy Glenn Beck. He has a knife he wants to show you.
meh
Blathering from the political class
You don’t have to scratch Medved very deeply to find “Big Government Thug”.
The first duty of every American next November, no matter who or what is running against Hillary, is to vote against Hillary.
Any argument against that proposition is pure sophistry and wickedness.
Great post. Sad how rare that this sort of insight appears here.
All these journalists (lack of a better word) think THEYRE gonna be the one with the argument that is going to finally take Trump out.
BWAHAHAHAHAHA fools!!

Lardass Erickson is voting for Hillary Clinton this year. Trump’s not “conservative” enough for him, but the father of queer “marriage” in America and ObamaCare was when he voted for Rommey four years ago.
Eric has lost his mind as his waistline was growing. Eric says he won’t betray his values, just his country. What a huge POS HE is.
Trump for President.
I really don’t care about values at this point. I’m hiring Trump to do a messy, ugly job which I think he will do better than anyone else in the running. I Think he’s a decent man who has made his share of mistakes, I’m not expecting an angel, and in fact we really need a ball buster who will break some rules at this point. Socialists and muslims don’t play by the rules.
Anyone who thinks Cruz is perfect in his values and voting record, is delusional.
Erick Erickson has no values except valuing a big backyard bar-b-que. That fat, vile troll who actually called someone a “goatf@#ker” and said he would not let Donald Trump in the same room with his wife and daughters now wants to talk about values? What a joke. He’s an embarrassment to the conservative cause and the state of GA.
Erick publicly screwed-up early in the Trump run and now he is too prideful to admit it.
I believe there is ample evidence that he is not a liberal fraud. My liberal friends reject everything he stands for and every position he takes. They would be supporting him if they thought what they were saying was true. The do not want him to be on the ballot with their candidate (Hillary). As clearly as they say he will lose I know they are frightened of Trump.
Of course you can be wary. But he impresses me as a patriot and someone who does espouse conservative positions. (He has a CC permit for example.)
I BTW used to be a member of Red State and I cannot understand EE’s change of heart except that he has sold out to the establishment. To me it is paramount to have a candidate who is not establishment, and I realize that the establishment is going to push for one of their puppets on Trump’s ticket. (Like Bush on Reagan’s ticket) Like you, I hope Trump is strong enough to resist this approach. But this will only happen if he wins the convention outright.
