Only when you can find a market do things like art or stamps have value. Silver and gold coins for the interim. Almost always a market. Storage food, bullets etc, always a market.

Everything except food and stamps will set off a metal detector. Food isn't particularly portable, nor is it easily concealed.

Stamps would be terrific for a refugee fleeing tyranny to a free country under rule of law with a functioning first-world economy.
