According to a new NBC/Marist poll, Ted Cruz is within striking distance of Donald Trump in South Carolina. Whereas Cruz was trailing Trump by a massive 16% one month ago, he's now come within 5%:
"In the latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal/Marist Poll of South Carolina conducted after Saturdayâs GOP debate, businessman Donald Trump, 28%, edges Texas Senator Ted Cruz, 23%, by only 5 points among likely Republican primary voters statewide including those who are undecided yet leaning toward a candidate or who voted by absentee ballot."
The establishment's frontrunner, Marco Rubio, is stuck at 15%, the poll shows, and he's closely followed by that other establismentarian Jeb! Bush, who is currently supported by 13% of likely Republican primary goers.
Unlike some of the other South Carolina polls released in recent days, this poll was conducted completely after last Saturday's debate in which Trump went full Iraq War Truther. As a result, the billionaire businessmen has lost support across the board, albeit especially among those who earn less than $50.000 a year. In other words: blue collar voters.
Trump is now also trailing Cruz among South Carolina voters who describe themselves as "very conservative": 22% versus 42%. And his double digit lead among Tea Party conservatives one month ago has been transformed into a small but important 4% deficit: 31% versus 35%. Amazingly, Trump -- who says he has never asked God for forgiveness despite trying to abuse eminent domain to take an old lady's home and cheating on his first wife Ivana Trump -- is still very competitive with Cruz among Evangelical voters, 29% versus 26%. Other than that, the poll shows that momentum is now against Trump and for Cruz...

What’s the over/under on how many times the Cruzers are going to post this today? I’ve got over 10 on the reposts.
At first glance, I thought this poll said, NBC/Marxist Poll...
Oh I am so so scared what will it be keyboards at dawn ? or mouses at 30 paces ?
Your are a very silly person to make a threat on FR.
My argument is that polls have become less and less accurate over that last few years and that one group is all touchy if any thing does not go there way in yuge way.. which you just proved.
I thinking the same.
Last day, so they will spam it extra hard.
RedState has yet to put out its propaganda, so that will be the next one.
It’s not a physical threat, you boneheaded ‘tard.
I will mock your feeble, ancient, senile mind and your tendency to drool.
After the delegates cast their first votes and if nobody receives 50 plus 1 percent then the delegates are no longer bound to their previous candidate and they will be free to vote for whoever they want. A candidate does not own the votes but can recommend to the delegates their desire for them to vote for Trump or whoever.
It could turn into one hell of a fight with trump getting PO’d and run off to a third party. The rules are the rules and the owners of the game wrote them.
If Cruz wins this, his billionaires will pony up a ton, and this race won’t be done until day 3 of the Convention
Forgot to say also that the final nominee does not have to be from the original list of candidates.
The last 13 polls in Iowa were on average off by 8 points favoring Trump over Cruz.
Is it possible for Trump to be able go third party in August, that late in the game?
>>Guess there is polling data to make everyone happy today<<
They are certainly a guage, but I don’t hold allot of faith in them. Iowa polls showed Trump in first place.
So we’ll see.
Any other polls corroborate this momentum shift?
“’tard”
Wow so now I am supposed to feel less intelligent or something, you are even less impressive over time.
That you do not seem get that I am mocking your style (if one can call it that) is even funnier or maybe just sad.
Well fine. Then after that first iteration, if nobody gets that majority, Carson and/or Rubio would get to recommend.
That’s kind of late for Trump to bolt... he seems more of the vindictive kind if truly pressed. The stink he could raise, the skeletons in closets his tongue could rattle, might figure in more here. HOW DARE YOU DO SUCH AN UNTRUE THING???
That I do not know. Individual states may have registration laws with dates.
What is so interesting is Cruz, Rubio and Bush all three beat Trump in a head to head for the nomination. The RNC encouraged all the candidates for the screwed up contested/brokered convention. Remember we started out with 17 with many of the back benchers to be the spoilers by spreading out the delegates.
Technically Bush, Carson and Kasich may be cast aside early because of their low delegate count. By that I mean their influence would be virtually useless at the convention.
It is shaping up to be one hell of a primary/convention season.
You have no redeeming features, and you smell of Ben Gay.
so now its a poor imitation of a french soldier from Pythons the Holy Grail.. very funny. Good job. Keep it up. What is next a version of Who is on first ?
You are a monkey.
