According to a new NBC/Marist poll, Ted Cruz is within striking distance of Donald Trump in South Carolina. Whereas Cruz was trailing Trump by a massive 16% one month ago, he's now come within 5%:
"In the latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal/Marist Poll of South Carolina conducted after Saturdayâs GOP debate, businessman Donald Trump, 28%, edges Texas Senator Ted Cruz, 23%, by only 5 points among likely Republican primary voters statewide including those who are undecided yet leaning toward a candidate or who voted by absentee ballot."
The establishment's frontrunner, Marco Rubio, is stuck at 15%, the poll shows, and he's closely followed by that other establismentarian Jeb! Bush, who is currently supported by 13% of likely Republican primary goers.
Unlike some of the other South Carolina polls released in recent days, this poll was conducted completely after last Saturday's debate in which Trump went full Iraq War Truther. As a result, the billionaire businessmen has lost support across the board, albeit especially among those who earn less than $50.000 a year. In other words: blue collar voters.
Trump is now also trailing Cruz among South Carolina voters who describe themselves as "very conservative": 22% versus 42%. And his double digit lead among Tea Party conservatives one month ago has been transformed into a small but important 4% deficit: 31% versus 35%. Amazingly, Trump -- who says he has never asked God for forgiveness despite trying to abuse eminent domain to take an old lady's home and cheating on his first wife Ivana Trump -- is still very competitive with Cruz among Evangelical voters, 29% versus 26%. Other than that, the poll shows that momentum is now against Trump and for Cruz...

When/if others drop out, where will their support likely be thrown? That would be a big question here.
Where’s the internals? Not on site.
Trump is big and bold, blazing a unique political path, but has made a lot of enemies. Cruz is more cautious, though for his advertised faith he could do a lot better in showing the spirit of Christ.
hmm Media poll says Cruz closing the gap, Emerson, a professional poll, shows Cruz sliding down into third.
Guess there is polling data to make everyone happy today.
Probably aren’t internals. There were no internals for NBC’s national poll. Trump leading all other polls taken in South Carolina and Nationally during same time frame, and they all have internal data to look at.
The bell is approaching.......
NBC/WSJ/Marist 2-19
Trump 28, Cruz 23, Rubio 15, Bush 13, Kasich 9, Carson 9 Trump +5

repost #4!
I hope a lot of the others start dropping out real soon. It would be interesting to see exactly where the top 2 or 3 candidates really are if the field narrowed down.
I think it will end up closer than most Trump supporters believe, but I still think Trump wins comfortably.
Rubio hurt himself last night with a last minute cancellation of a big event, but with Haley’s endorsement, I think he heads onto Super Tuesday in full command of the Establishment lane. Of course, I don’t think he will score more than third place in any contest, but he might siphon off enough votes to throw this thing into a brokered convention.
I’m sure that is the GOPe hope.
When NBC/WSJ polling is shown to be a complete sham, I intend to reference this outright-lie EVERY TIME THEIR POLLS SHOW UP.
the Cruzbots said don’t pay attention to the NH results... Cruz will destroy Trump in SC because it’s 65% evangelicals.. I guess we will see tomorrow night
They have been trying to poll “more conservative” people all of a sudden. Why? Because the establishment is not keen on being caught by surprise as they were in the last 2 election cycles.
Their polls back then did not pick up on the coming losses in the House and the Senate. As the rebellion has picked up steam, ON BOTH SIDES IN BOTH PARTIES, it has dawned on them that they had better go deeper this time.
We are going to see a change in all of the polls once the others convert to this model in the coming weeks.
Watch the numbers go a little wacky as we get closer to Super Tuesday. They want NO SURPRISES THIS TIME. The establishment ruling class has far too much to lose to be caught off guard this time.
Real conservatives will never vote for someone who gives money to their enemies...despite his or her words of deceptive devotion.
Jedi
Wait a minute!
24 hours ago the WSJ poll had Cruz leading at 28% and Trump in second place at 18%.
So we are suppose to believe that Trump went up 10% and Cruz went down 10% or a 20% difference in less than 24 hours?
Perhaps this was the WSJ admitting they overreached in that last poll.
Pretty much all other Poll show Trump expanding his lead and NOT collapsing as the WSJ wish was the case.
This is desperation attempt from the liars at the WSJ.
That was a national poll. This is a state poll.

Allot of pollsters will end up with egg on their face come Saturday.
Ha...just those chickens coming home to roost...
But wait.....that looks a bit big for a chicken....
Is it a crow....(to be eaten cold)
OMG...its an Albatross
What you call “real conservatives” sound a lot like self idolaters.
They can also be hypocrites if they count only money, which might be given for multiple reasons (one of them being pragmatic buy-offs) and don’t count efforts, and if the hint was about Trump, then Cruz isn’t simon-pure in the other arena.
