Don't do it this way
The method you see here are not gold standard of what you should do, this video is bordering on the "ultimate" of what you should absolutely NOT do if you find yourself in this situation.
Not much is known about where this video was shot, and if this was their trap or if they were illegally tampering with another trapperâs set, but one thing is for sure, the guy who joins the bobcat release party right at the end has never seen what a bobcat can do when it's angry. Check out the video here.
That was one angry kitty kat
"What bobcat?"
* Bobcat Goldthwait
Yeah. No. I don’t even need to look at the video to know I don’t want to be anywhere close, not in a vehicle or other protective enclosure. Mother Nature is not Disney.
Of course, maybe shooting him first would get this land owner in big trouble, so I'd default to calling the game warden.
Funny video, though.
A neighbor hunts in my woods...and his trail camera has taken photos of a Bobcat several times.
After watching this, I’m a little...concerned...about going in those woods.

Even the wild cats have the patience to just sit and wait for a human being to make one mistake too many, then whammo! Lucky for the men, all this cat wanted to do was to get away, not have lunch.
The second guy is VERY lucky the bobcat was more concerned with getting away then having a fight.
If a leg hold trap is used to catch a bobcat, why would one not be prepared to shoot it before removing the trap?
Step 1: Dose it with a good shot of catnip
Step 2: Once he’s trippin balls and rolling around on his back, then you release him :)
I don’t see why there is so much criticism. Why speculate if it was their trap or the cat was the intended target of the trapper. If you only have a spade and don’t want to use it to kill the animal, you will have to pry or push the spring down somehow to release the jaws. While it appears the animal came after one of the guys, in realty the cat wanted out of there as fast as it could go and leaped over the guy knocking off his cap. The faster you get the animal out of the trap the less damage to its foot. Animals have been know to chew their foot off to get out of a trap.
But I must confess . . . seeing all those pics of animals just sitting there with their paws in those traps? Hard to watch.
Bobcats don’t look at humans for “lunch”, they know we are too large prey for them to be taking down.
You might get mauled by one who is scared, or surprised, but generally they avoid humans just like they would avoid any larger predator.
I know you don't want to fool with them, but I doubt very seriously any bobcat has ever had a human being for lunch . . . or even wanted to.
I’ve definitely seen many bobcats bigger than that one. Those guys have a death wish. Bobcats are the real life versions of the Warner Brothers “Tasmanian devil” cartoon character. A big one can take down a deer, and they often do. And, if you ever encounter one in the woods and think you got the best of it, you better be careful approaching it because they quite often travel in pairs.
26 minutes long; don’t have time.
Only when they wake up with coyote ugly.
