NEW YORK (Reuters) - Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders has erased Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's wide lead for the Democratic presidential nomination since the start of year, putting the two in a dead heat nationally, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll.
Clinton leads Sanders 48 percent to 45 percent among Democratic voters, according to the poll of 512 Americans, conducted Feb. 2-5 following the Iowa caucus. The poll has a credibility interval of 5 percentage points.
Democrats had been supporting Clinton by more than a 2-to-1 margin at the beginning of the year. Sanders has narrowed that lead considerably over the past several weeks.
Clinton beat Sanders narrowly in the Iowa caucuses, the nation's first nomination contest ahead of the November election, but is expected to lose to him in New Hampshire. The two rivals clashed on Thursday night in their first one-on-one debate, reflecting the tightness of the race.
There is still a wide gap between the two in name recognition nationally. Nearly a quarter of Democrats and two-fifths of Independents say they are still not that familiar with Sanders. In comparison, Clinton has almost total name recognition among voters.
On the Republican side, Donald Trump continued to lead the field with 40 percent support. His level of support among Republicans was relatively unchanged following his second-place finish in the Iowa caucus. Senator Ted Cruz of Texas followed with 16 percent and Senator Marco Rubio of Florida came in third with 13 percent.

I thought they were too old to be “in heat”. Maybe that’s why they added the word “dead”.
Can’t wait until Bernie runs over Hillary with his Hoveround then beats her with his Hurrycane.
Guess they will make another coin toss
Keeps getting better for Trump and the U.S.A. !
I just hope that they don’t team up as Hillary said during the debate.
Sanders, Hillary, Trump... three peas in a pod
You wish you were in a pod with hillary and bernie!
I don’t assume the Dem will lose in November (regardless of the candidate); keep in mind that after four years of failure, the media convinced enough people to re-elect Token.
Have to hand it to the Dem voters.
They elected a guy because he was not all white.
Then they voted in the same guy who was screwing up.
They then have a old, white socialist who looks about to drop and an old, white woman who has been found lying during the past few years while in this administration, done illegal activity, and is under an FBI investigation.
And on top of that they say we are not diverse compared to their two old white people!
You can’t make this stuff up at how stupid their voters are and how nuts the Dem party has become.
If the Dems DON’T lose in November, there is nothing left in America worth saving because the American people will have gone MAD COMMIE!
All ties are lies.
Clinton in heat - I’d rather not think about that.
Klinton / Sanders dead heat.
It’s no wonder, they both have one foot in the grave.
The Democrat muckity mucks will never allow an avowed socialist the nomination. That’s why they stole Iowa for the beast. They are all socialists but Bernie admits it. This is forbidden. They will go to any lengths to deny him the nomination.
Capitalism vs socialism will be an interesting and educational election.
No way.
Those are Trump’s people
TDS
You’re right - and I felt like that in 2012.
May the best cheater win.
