More Fowl Play at Iowa Caucus Revealed
Youtube ^ | February 2, 2016 | Youtube

Posted on 02/04/2016 4:04:00 AM PST by true believer forever

Jeff Roe, Cruz's campaign manager, pulled the exact same dirty trick with another candidate a few years ago.

"An e-mail sent to news media outlets and a "tweet" issued by a fake Twitter account announced that Eckersley had suspended his campaign due to personal reasons.

Eckersley blames his opponent, Republican Billy Long, for sending out the hoax days before the election,

"You know this is dirty politics. This is Jeff Roe style management. That's who Billy's retained. That's who he writes the big checks to," Eckersley tells Missourinet affiliate KTTS.

Passing out antique snapshots is dumb, but doesn’t rise to the level of “bearing false witness”.

Exactly. Carson’s wife had to straighten it out at the caucus she was at.

It’s become glaringly obvious Cruz is NOT the “principled” straight arrow he was made out to be.

Electioneering at the polls. Some prominent candidates were arrested for doing this in New York several years ago. They were a few feet inside the limit.

What a scummy thing to do in the very precinct where Dr. Carson’s wife was at.

There is no prohibition of electioneering at caucuses. That is actually what caucuses are for!

Isn’t the vote taken in the same place where the discussions are?

It could be that Iowa consistently does it their way, in spite of the illegality.

Lol. You guys are so blind to the optics of all this. The more you insist that what the Cruz campaign was okay (which is irrelevant) the more you make Cruz look really, really slimy and bad. The whole approach is bad. It makes it appear that winning is more important than ethics.

There is no illegality. Where on earth would you get that idea?

I don’t understand your first question. This isn’t a general election and general election laws don’t apply. This is a neighborhood meeting where people try to convince each other to back their issues and candidates. Usually there are all kinds of campaign reps & materials from all kinds of candidates and issues.

Rubio and family were present at a caucus where Cruz won. The Governor of Maine was at several caucuses promoting Christie.

Pretty selective "outrage" on your part, eh, Dynoman.

You post the tweet @ post #56...but you haven't on this thread -- or any other you've posted on today or yesterday -- about this tweet re: the Rubio campaign. Why not? (If this is such a "moral indignation" issue to you?)

From Uh Oh, Was Marco Rubio Guilty In The Ben Carson Dropout Rumor?

Excerpt from this link: What has not been said much throughout the day is that Florida Senator Marco Rubio‘s campaign worked actively to spread the message that Carson was leaving the presidential race. These actions were reported on Twitter by Conrad Close who, according to his Twitter profile, is the managing editor of Outset Magazine.

[You can go to the link to see a snapshot of Close's actual tweet...it reads:

"Rubio campaign pushing the narrative hard that Carson is dropping out. Obviously looking to pick up votes."]

Per the link above: "Another interesting little tidbit about Close, that he shouts from the rooftops with his Twitter profile picture, is that he is Team Rubio with the statement below his picture, 'I’m voting for Marco Rubio.'

[So, it's not like Close was "anti-Rubio" & was attempting to sabotage him]

I call you & other FR posters out on this.

If you've ONLY targeted Cruz, who the Carson team went after ONLY a SINGLE Cruz staffer on this rumor...yet have ignored 100% Rubio, who Rush confirmed yesterday MULTIPLE staffers were involved in rumor-mongering...then it all comes across as crass exploitive targeted of THE front-runner...NOT as some moral issue sticking in your craw.

'Fess up.

Electioneering. Handing out the business cards with Trump, Bill & Hill.

It's a CAUCUS! Electioneering is the whole damn point!

I will be watching of course. But then again he is not running as a bivtime Christian and then acting without scruples. He is running as one who loves America. I know what we will likely get from a president Trump. Elmer Gentry is far more scary. I particularly dislike his being buddies with Roberts and being expected to believe he will replace Obamacare.

But then there is a vote in the same venue, right?

I hope someone writes about this nationally, having seen our discussion on FR. It seems wrong to me to hand out literature. The only thing you can bring to a NY polling place is a palm card. It seems as though the same rules should apply everywhere.

I have made people take their political buttons off and they treat me like I am the world’s worst pest, because of course they are Democrats and everyone’s voting Democrat anyway, right? Same when I made the poll workers move their sign that said “No electioneering beyond this point” because it was too close to the polling place.

I take it that you don’t understand how caucuses work. You’re not alone. Donald Trump doesn’t either. It is a Party function. Candidate advocacy inside the polling place is encouraged. A speaker is requested for each candidate to come forward and speak on behalf of each candidate. Unfortunately for Trump, many precincts had no one to advocate for him.
