Burns Chronicles: The Death of LaVoy Finical

LaVoy Finicum’s last ride

This is the first of a series of articles about the events surrounding the investiture of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge administration buildings by a group headed by Ammon Bundy, son of Cliven and Carol Bundy. The Bundys are well known for the events in Nevada that played out in April 2014. In that incident, the Bundys, along with hundreds of other patriotic Americans, went beyond “civil disobedience” and entered the realm of “civil defiance”, defying, with arms, the intrusion of the Bureau of Land Management into the long time operation of the cattle part of the Bundy ranch operation - denying rights that had existed for years and denying them their pursuit of the family business.

Though this writer only spent five days in Burns, he was able to meet many of the key players on the side of the patriots, some townspeople from Burns, and some of those who gathered, on one side or the other, to observe, or attempt to affect, the ongoing activities.

In reflection, if soldiers (or Marines) in Afghanistan, had acted as the agents and shot an unarmed man, without provocation, would have violated the Rules of Engagement (ROE) of war, and would have stood Court Martial, then probably imprisoned or discharged from service. Unfortunately, the ROE do not apply here, in our own “free” country.

This was a poorly planned and poorly executed operation by law enforcement.

Law enforcement had radios. The operation could have been called off at any time. What was the worst thing that could happen if the operation had been called off? The people go to a meeting?

Look at the positioning of equipment and personnel. Eight vehicles on a side road. Three vehicles forming a roadblock.

Nobody....nobody with a brain, would have a mile long operational area for this.

Law enforcement had every advantage in this. Why didn’t they use one of those armored vehicles they had there? Pull one up behind and in front. Then, law enforcement isn’t threatened. These people were stuck on the road. They weren’t going anywhere.

The thing that no one is talking about with this incident is the same thing no one wanted to talk about with the Branch Davidian massacre.

A Democrat administration wanted to make a point to conservatives.

“Your guns will not protect you if you disobey Liberals.”

God, the utter arrogance of Liberals.

The Democrats will kill you if you spend too much time in a federal outhouse.

I was planning to post this on social media, and while overall it is informative, there is too much question as to their being armed, esp. w.r.t. LaVoy having a 9mm on him. Not for me, but for it to be convincing to others on social media. Heck, being armed is a 2d amendment right and does not give LE a reason to shoot someone.

The female witnesses as I recall said that none of them were armed, their legitimate 2d Amendment arms being left back at the camp.

Please clarify as possible. People need to know, but I can only share with skeptics what can reasonably convince them. If I can convince them that their legitimate 2d amendment arms were left behind at the camp, this post won’t do it. I can’t convince these skeptics that La Voy was not reaching for a supposed 9mm in his pocket somewhere, without more statements that he even did not possess a 9mm, left behind at the camp or not.

The media is the message, and I need more help in order to convince others of what the testimony of the women has convinced me of.

Others will not be convinced that way. Were their weapons sill at the camp? If so, who has secured them so that an assault on those four remaining could not compromise the evidence of the weapons left behind? Did LaVoy even own a 9mm?

Facts and help needed. Thanks very much.
