I had the opportunity to attend the Trump rally in Tulsa today. I wanted to hear him first-hand without media bias. Palin being there was an added bonus.
I was asked to give a full report and here's my views:
1. Trump seems trustworthy. If you're surprised to hear that, so am I to write it. I'm not saying he'll always be right. Look, the President is going to face situations we don't know about yet. How will they be handled? Trump rightfully blasted the stupidity, incompetence, and weakness of the present administration. He made no bones about it. Calling a spade a spade creates trust.
2. Trump has long cared for America. He understands the responsibilities of the President. He will be a refreshing America-first President.
3. Trump knows how to negotiate. He blasted the $150 billion Iranian deal from the community organizer. He said we have political hacks negotiating. He committed to getting strong negotiators and businessmen involved for America's interest.
4. Trump keeps up on current events. This is unlike the current White House occupant, who like Schultz in Hogan's Heros claims "I know nothing" (my analogy). He knows what the poll results are, and likes sharing them because he's in the lead.
5. Trump is a leader. He is driving the discussion. John Maxwell says, "Everything rises and fall on leadership." Under Obama's leadership, America has fallen. As much as I love Cruz, he has not demonstrated leadership, but instead principled strategy.
6. Trump is responsive to criticism. Before the event it was announced that this was a private event and the protesters were to remain outside. When a few rose up, they were quickly escorted out. Trump explained that when that first happened he was criticized for being too harsh. So he tried to tone it down and was called weak.
7. Trump is strongly aware of media dishonesty. He said the good thing about the protesters is that they force the cameras to show the size of the crowd.
8. Trump may overstate things. He said there were 15,000 people present. There were no more than 10,000, probably 9,000 or maybe 8,000. I'm not sure why he did this. Was he given bad information? Did he deliberately overstate? Was he given no information and made his best guess. In any case, this weaken my assessment above that he's trustworthy.
9. Trump is a winner. He says America will begin to win again. He said if he doesn't win the election, then all this is for nothing.
10. In everything Trump shared, he was sensible to me. America currently spends the most on education, yet is ranked #28 in the world. We should spend less and be rated higher. He's against Common Core. He isn't afraid to say "radical islamic terrorism". He wants to help vets and strengthen the military. He is against open borders and says he'll make Mexico pay for the wall. He is strongly pro-second amendment.
11. Trump is high energy. He slammed Jeb as being low energy. He said low energy people don't get things done, and that politicians are all talk and no action.
12. Trump recognizes that liberals and the establishment are the enemy. He recognizes that people are sick and tired and fed up.
13. Trump is pro-Christian. I am not saying that he personally is a strong Christian. He said Christianity is under assault and we will stop the assault against Christianity. (As further evidence, I've also heard him say "I'll be the Christian's best friend.")
14. Trump claimed to use his wealth for all Americans. He said "I'm talking about winning the presidency for you." and "This success is going to you." Could it really be that we in America are so jaded, disappointed, and used, that we refuse to believe a person of means who isn't beholden to the "donor political class" will really do what's best for the country? Or could it be we are again on the verge of selecting a hypocritical, lying, self-centered, anti-American deceiver?
Overall I left feeling that I'd be happy if Trump won. I didn't feel like I had the complete picture of all his positions, and might not like some as they are revealed. However, the key parts of being pro-America, pro-Christian, anti-GOPe, and anti-liberal, along with his demonstrated leadership, sensibility, and intelligence were enough to move me into his camp. An added bonus is that if he maintains his sizable lead, he will have over a full year to prepare for the Presidency and all it's duties and personnel selections.
As for Palin, she had some great lines. "What we need now is a fundamental restoration." "We can believe our best days are ahead of us." "We need a Commander-in-Chief who will respect troops and treat veterans better than illegal immigrants." "The permanent political class is doing the bidding of the donor political class." We currently have a "weak-kneed capitulator-in-chief." She also shared that her son is a wounded warrior.
There always one in the crowd.
Yes, America needs a VERY strong leader, NOW, more than ever. Trump is an old fashioned patriot who LOVES this nation and her people. This is NOT an "act"; this is for real!

Excellent report and item summary. It’s pretty much what he delivers at most rallies.
Donald is most certainly trustworthy. We can be assured he will have our best interests at heart when he commands the executive branch.
As for Ted, he is a big boy and has been handling Donald’s attacks just fine. I am fairly certain he will be Donald’s VP pick regardless of the slugfest over eligibility. Ted is 100% eligible.
I wouldn't trust Cruz's judgement re judges for SCOTUS, since he is an OLD FRIEND of Roberts, whom he pushed onto W, in 2000, to work on the HANGING CHADS stuff and for Chief Justice. How'd THAT work out for all of us?
Trump said that about his sister, long ago, he was just being "nice". Unlike YOU, he knows that his older sister is TOO old to advance as a nominee for such a position now. And psssssssssssst....she was a Reagan pick.
Cruz is still very wet behind the ears, has less experience than Obama had when he ran, and has little leadership qualities.
Are you being swayed what some people here post about Trump or some such, instead of believing your own gut feelings and what he says?

There are only two categories of citizens, natural and naturalized.
Ted is not naturalized because of his mother. Therefore, he is natural meaning natural born.
In all actuality, my single primary vote probably won't mean much and I will support who ever get's the nomination to run against Hillary. But, the rhetoric of late is beginning to get my attention more so than it did over the last few months.
I find it interesting how set some people are and I want to try to understand why before I become so rigid that I would take a position that Cruz has less experience than Obama in order to support a man with no experience at all. Knowing all the while that Cruz's record of Supreme Court arguments is 9-0.
TED Cruz connected Roberts with the Bush Family and arranged his appointment to the Scotus. Don’t need any more Roberts!
There are THREE kinds...a born citizen, a naturalized citizen, and a NBC !
Unless the government has changed the rules, in the past TEN YEARS, which I haven't heard about and which nobody else has either, the government tells those who are studying to become a naturalized citizen that in order to run for the presidency, a child MUST have TWO American citizens, at the time of his or her birth. You don't like that/don't believe me.....then write to the government agency that supplies study guides to those who are becoming naturalized citizens! :-)

Since Cruz’s situation is almost identical to O I ask myself :
Is Ted Cruz a big enough patriot and does he love the constitution so much that he would be willing to forfeit his political career to save our constitution and undo all done by the current administration?
If your answer is yes then you must consider Trumps obsession with both O AND TC birth and accept the possibility that this is all Kabuki
Winning cases at SCOTUS, is irrelevant re being president. Sorry, but that is a fact.
Voting in a primary, or a caucus, counts a lot.
My choice is an educated one and I try to learn everything I can about each candidate.
Cruz has been working for one government or another his entire adult life; though some of that, as a lawyer. Obama was also in the Ill. state Senate, so that's 1 up on Ted, but still not saying much of anything.
Trump may have been a private citizen, all of his life; however, he has had to deal with American pols and governments at all levels, as well as foreign pols and governments during his work life. That helps him, because he sees it all from OUR level.

Besides which, Ted lived in Canada a number of years after his birth and should have had a clue that he "MIGHT" have dual citizenship PRIOR to 2014! He is either LYING about not knowing, or he isn't anywhere near as "intelligent" as he and his supporters claim.
If YOU are correct, then every single anchor baby, from ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD, is eligible to be the president, IF he or she meets the very few other qualifications. IS THAT WHAT OUR FFS HAD IN MIND? I TRULY DOUBT THAT !

I have already suggested a while back that Ted should file in any federal court for expedited declaratory relief.
It need never go to SCOTUS. He needs only a federal court decision. If the democrats want to appeal, they can but it is a waste of time.
There have been numerous Americans born overseas who were never naturalized but were given citizenship based on the status of their parents. It’s codified in law and regulations.
Donald Trump is not doing this because he sincerely believes Ted is ineligible. He’s doing it because he wants to win. And that’s perfectly fine. Right now, the two are in a slugfest and before too long they will be kissing and making up.
Trump will win the nomination and I believe it highly likely that he will choose the finest running mate that there is, and that is Ted Cruz.
Donald will come out and make an announcement:
“I talked with my lawyers and they say it’s perfectly legal for me to choose Ted Cruz as my running mate and they say he is eligible.”
But as of today, Donald is basically saying “I’m the grizzly and Cruz is the cub”. In whatever way he can get that across is fair game. He could even say something absurd like there’s evidence that Ted never learned to tie his shoes, and he would throw it out there.
This is the primary, these are two heavyweights, they are going to do what they have to do to win. Getting bogged down in arguments and stupid debates is a waste of time. Sit back and enjoy the show.
