God is So Much Greater Than Islam Teaches That He Is

Islam teaches that God's will is supreme. But Islam ignores that God is also infinitely rational. And Islam misunderstands what God's will fundamentally is.

Will and Intellect are the two main attributes of spiritual beings, among Whom are three varieties, God, angels and humans.

Islam over-emphasizes God's omnipotence, so that Islam deprecates God's infinite rationality.

God is portrayed in Islam as asking the angels what the animals are named, to which they reply, in effect, "We don't know their names because You did not tell us".

The Islamic attitude toward God's rationality seems to be that He doesn't have to tell us anything. His omnipotence is so great that He wills to restrict our knowledge to stop us from questioning Him.

Contrast this attitude with the finding of an inquiry titled Privileged Planet: Humanity was created or arose in a very rarified environment, the possibility that this has occurred millions of times elsewhere notwithstanding. And humanity has been placed in a rare astronomical environment on the edge of a galactic arm so that we are ideally located to discover the cosmos. These two circumstances are so inter-related that they can be considered as one: The rarity of Earth's habitability is 'coincidental' with its rare proximity in the galactic zone most conducive to scientific discovery.

It sounds like God wants us to question Him. This is anathema to Islamic thought. Islam teaches that it is blasphemy for us to question God.

Human beings are unable to properly direct their wills unless they are informed by their intellects. The height of will is not the ability to do whatever one wants. The Islamic understanding of God's will is that He can do whatever He wants, without our understanding, so that evil actions are not evil if they conform with this idea of "will".

This idea of will deprecates the God's infinite goodness.

The height of will, infinite in God, is the decision to love.

This is opposed to the extremist idea of self-directed will by Kant, Schopenhauer and Nietzsche.

Islam is correct that God's will is supreme: But that will is to call us into existence out of nothing out of sheer goodness, to share existence with us, purely out of love for we creatures whom He conceives of in His Mind out of nothing, not just in a material, but in an ideational sense, without a previous idea, with infinite originality.

A glimpse of the inseparability of God's omnipotent will from His infinite rationality, is in the truth, that God's "opinion"…is fact:

What God "thinks", is existence.

Whatever good God envisions, by thinking it, He creates, infinitely, instantaneously, irresistibly, omnipotentially.

Islam can't account for this fact about God.

God's omnipotence is far greater than Islam teaches.

God is so great that He freely allows us to participate in His creative acts. without any diminution of His own omnipotence:

Though we only know about God's rational plan after the fact, and in a sense, do actually diminish His creation by understanding it, as a child "takes" from a parent; this is what He wants, and so He made us rational, after His own nature, not as robots but able to truly love Him with our hearts and our minds, by coming to understand Him and his creation.

You can't truly love what you don't know within your capacity for understanding.

A capacity that God willed to make us with.

My Muslim teacher told me that God doesn't care whether or not we go to heaven. It put a stop to our discussions. I realized that too great a gulf separates us. As much as I love my teacher and respect his spirituality, his dedication to prayer and respect for truth, I haven't pursued our relationship because I can't make him understand how infinitely God loves us in the supremacy of His will.

To engage in a war of ideas,
  1. understand your opponents' thinking;
  2. work to convince your opponents' thinking class of the truth, so that they will lead their less intellectual majority toward truth;
  3. work over a long term, for generations, to convince your opponents of the truth; but, most importantly,
  4. understand the truth yourself.

Islam's god is unknowable, and if you try to know him you're in deep trouble. They revere Mohammed because they believe that their god decided to let Mohammed know a few things, and they're supposed to follow what they think Mohammed learned...even the most devout Muslim isn't sure that Mohammed is even right.

Islam is experiential. No matter how much we quote what the Koran says, Muslims only go by what they feel. One of the reasons there's Jihadism, is that many of the Muslims in the West have tried the secular lifestyle and find it empty...they try to be more devout Muslims and find THAT empty as well (like all men who live without Christ). This makes them susceptible to Imams and Ayatollahs that tell them the emptiness in their heart and their unfulfilled desires are because of other people (women, Jews, Americans, dogs, pork, etc.), and that to become fulfilled they have to enslave or destroy these people.

On the other hand, the God of the Christians WANTS man to know Him and His will for our lives. He WANTS a relationship with us, one that is intimate, personal, and He only has our good at heart.

“allah” is not the God of Abraham and Robin. You and your teacher are talking past each other.

allah is the moon god. allah is not the God of the Holy Bible. There is no resemblance or connection between the two.

According to Walid Shoebat in God's War on Terror, the muslim Allah has all the attributes of the Bible's Satan...and Shoebat lays out the proof in black and white.

Coming from a formerly muslim man who is now a evangelical Christian convert, the claim carries a lot of weight (check reviews at above link).

Because the god of Islam is a hateful, vengeful god, there is no true salvation in him, nor is there any peace...of mind or anything else.It is a warrior/conquest religion, authored by Satan, not God, who wants to destroy the earth before Christ returns. They believe our Christ is the antichrist and we see their Mahdi as our antichrist.

Islam has been a religion of conquest, by whatever means possible, since its inception, so this drivel about it being a religion of peace is BS!

God’ dictates are not malleable to man’s objectives, regardless of how much evil men may wish it so.

It sounds like God wants us to question Him.

This shows up numerous times in the Bible. Jacob wrestling with God, Gideon's fleece, Moses reminding God of His promises, Hezekiah's complaint when told he was going to die, the Gentile mother who tells Jesus that dogs eat the crumbs from their master's table, Mary questioning Gabriel, "doubting" Thomas...and that's only a few. The true God wants to relate with us, to speak with--not "to," not "at," with--Him, as a man speaks with his friend.

The problem with Christianity is that it is sold as a cheap bauble, a boring meeting on Sundays, when it provides the Glory beyond the universe. If people genuinely understood the promises and the claims of Christ and His salvation, they would never even consider another way.

Thank you all for your sincere comments. My teacher and I discussed the sense that the first Muslims were trying to be God’s people as portrayed in the 1976 Anthony Quinn film “The Messenger”. Despite their best intentions to be saints, they were cut off from authentic Christianity by corruption in the Byzantine Empire which, with its 13th apostle, the emperor, disregarded Christ’s commands to go and make disciples among all nations and to render unto Caesar his things, but unto God the things due God. (Debate welcome.) Mohammed first reported to his wife that he thought his visions or locutions were diabolical, but they were repeated and he accepted them as authentic. A similar attack on devout people seeking God happened in Russia, the most religious people in Europe at the end of WW 1. It’s a warning that Q, the immaterial, immortal, vastly intelligent and irrevocably evil spirit, most delights in trying to attack people who want to be Godly. Only Faith in Jesus Christ can save us. Many sincere people in Muslim lands are receiving personal visits from the True Jesus. There are many hidden Christians there who are temporally isolated but joined spiritually to the Body of Christ. Along with Christians hidden in China and suffering openly in Africa, the devil’s domain is tottering and will crumble soon.

In Malachi, after an Israel unaware of manuring or fertilizing fields with alfalfa, neglected to let fields rest every 7 years, to free those who pawned themselves into slavery, or return pawned lands to their owner families of generations, Israel eventually to be exiled for for 7 times 70 years, for neglected jubilees: The LORD makes an exemption to the commandment that you shall not put the LORD your God to the test: “Test me and see if I can be outdone in generosity” He tells them for once, so they will tithe the first fruits with an open heart like Abel.

Happy New Year!

The Quinn film is "The Message".

Mohammed first reported to his wife that he thought his visions or locutions were diabolical....

What number wife was that?

Faith in Jesus is a wonderful thing, especially for those perpetually outside his influence by oppression.

For myself it's still difficult to see him as divine in the sense that The Father, through Deuteronomy 4:19 and Malachi 1:11 had deemed all souls salvageable so long as they were not practicing immorality or other acts contrary to common humanity.

And therein lies the rub with the agency of human evil - or the devil, by any other name. In the whole history of the universe, while there is plenty of evidence for God therein, their is absolutely none whatsoever for the devil until the human mind becomes capable of abstracting him as a reason or excuse for its own sinfulness, thus also undermining monotheism.

IMHO, there is but One God, and One God only.

I wonder about posing this simple argument to a Muslim, though it might only work on those still capable of some rational thought. How is it that their perfect god created so many things that are intrinsically unclean, even to touch(not merely unhealthy to eat). It belies his perfection.
