Last weekâs Crystal Ball repeated its refrain that Donald Trump is very unlikely to get the Republican presidential nomination. However, it issued the caveat that â[i]t would be easier to make our argument if we could explain precisely how and by whom the real estate tycoon will be dethroned.â
Who can and will defeat Trump? The answer is obvious, but also not obvious because the question seems to beg the name of another candidate. The âwhoâ that will defeat Trump is not another candidate but is most likely to be the Republican voters who actually turn out in Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina, and the other contests.

What a bunch of Gope crap.
Please dismiss the yuge crowds that take the time to attend his events -— they most certainly won’t take the time to actually VOTE for him.

Of course none of the 10,000 to 15,000 people who fought traffic, hunted for parking, went through security, waited 2 hours for the rally to start and another hour for the speech, while standing the entire time will find 10 minutes of time to go to their local poling place at anytime during the early voting period or voting day to vote.
That would just be expecting too much!
Or, you could be giving a rocking rally to a crowd of 250 at a retirement home!
I like what El Rushbo said last week. “They say Hillary would mop the floor with Trump. Well then, why isn’t she doing it now? Nationally Trump polls 4 or 5 points over Hillary, and he hasn’t even started IN on HER yet. So why isn’t she mopping the floor with him right now?”
Ann Coulter tweeted that she wondered if the omnibus bill the repulicans are going to pass would be considered a contribution to Trump.
Santorum never had a chance. He couldn’t overcome losing his PA Senate seat in 2006.
I think Sabato bought his crystal ball at the same place Rove acquired his white board.
When TRUMP hits 50, it’s time for the field to scatter. Until then, TRUMP is at no real disadvantage by the large field, especially when he is clunking around 42, 38, 35.
The people are still circling the candidates, but they are watching that guy in the open field too, mostly because he is smoking it, and he’s strong.
Right? Republican voters slant towards Trump. Why is that so hard to believe? We like what he’s saying.
Every time the media claims he’s said something so controversial that it will kill his chances, his poll numbers increase.
Many people I work with hate him (school) but of course they do, he’s not a democrat and he’s filling his venues.
LMAO!
Trump can’t win going 3rd party. He wants to win.
All the liberal democrat women I work with aren’t voting for him either. Trump isn’t getting their vote, but neither would any Republican so there’s that.
“Trump chumpions”
Yay, we’re back in grade school. RME
Many people go out of curiosity and are not necessarily committed to even vote.

You obviously haven’t been to one of Trump’s rallies.
Exactly! 84% of GOP voters prefer someone other than Cruz, 87% of GOP voters do not prefer Rubio, 88% of voters against Carson, based on latest RCP numbers. While only 67% of GOP voters prefer someone other than Trump.
I hope these people do not bet on horses the same way they are betting on primaries.
Right?
I’ve been hearing the media, and some on this site and other “conservative” and “republican” sites say Trump’s done since the beginning and yet he’s still going strong. Even polling has him at the top.
Go figure ;)
Romney has exactly 10 rallies through the campaign.
Trump already had more than 50. Apples and Oranges.
Seems to me that in the Republican contest at this point historically whoever leads now will not be the nominee. I don’t really watch the dims, but seems like their favorite at all points stays on top and is their eventual nominee.
If Hillary is the dem nom, and that’s a big if, Trump will eviscerate her and the media won’t be able to slant it.
The Media is doing everything they can to trash him now because they know he’s a solid force in this election. He’s winning that fight so far.
