The title of the article is âChipotle: The Long Defeat Of Doing Nothing Well.â
The company found it could pass off a fast-food menu stacked with high-calorie, sodium-rich options as higher quality and more nutritious because the meals were made with locally grown, genetic engineering-free ingredients. And to set the tone for the kind of New Age-y image the company wanted, Chipotle adopted slogans like, âWe source from farms rather than factoriesâ and, âWith every burrito we roll or bowl we fill, weâre working to cultivate a better world.âBecause everybody knows that slogans provide better nutrition than âfarm factories.â
Outbreaks of food poisoning have become something of a Chipotle trademark; the recent ones are the fourth and fifth this year, one of which was not disclosed to the public. A particularly worrisome aspect of the companyâs serial deficiencies is that there have been at least three unrelated pathogens in the outbreaksâSalmonella and E. coli bacteria and norovirus. In other words, there has been more than a single glitch; suppliers and employees have found a variety of ways to contaminate what Chipotle cavalierly sells (at premium prices) to its customers.Yep, thereâs more than one way for lethal pathogens to slip into the supply chain.
Letâs be clear: The source of the companyâs woes is a marketing-driven propensity to exploit current food fads, even if it diverts the corporate focus away from what should always be âjob oneââsafety.Because safety is so overrated, and political correctness is so, uh, underrated. Then thereâs this:
Chipotle rejects modern synthetic fertilizers in favor of suppliers who use manure on their crops. This approach may be âall naturalâ and âorganicâ and make some customers feel warm and fuzzy, but it should not come as a surprise that applying stool, feces and excrement to growing fruits and vegetables significantly raises the risk of spreading disease.I think we can all agree, weâve spread a lot of manure in the past 7 years.
Chipotle isnât only subjecting its customers to very serious health risks, itâs also actively spreading the pernicious superstitions of food faddism and mythologyâfor example, using innuendo to suggest that genetically modified food is somehow âunnaturalâ or dangerous in spite of mountains of research evidence and real-world experience to the contrary. And because Obamacare isnât enough to take care of Amerika on its own, weâre also supporting open borders and âcommon sense gun safetyâ to finish the job.
These episodes reveal several things. First and foremost, Chipotle is a company so out of control and negligent that it repeatedly endangers the public.Indeed; and in more ways than one. Itâs hard to say at this point exactly what the greatest threat to America is: food poisoning, ISIS, political correctness, âgun controlâ of a feckless leader.
Iâll go with feckless leader.

All of these dumb-ass liberals reject modern technology - forgetting why that technology was developed to begin with.
Fertilizers allow farmers to grow more to feed more. They use pesticides to preserve crops on the vine. Equipment running on, yes OIL, allows higher productivity from fewer people. Using preservatives allows shipping over distance which ultimately results in the use of a truck, again running on oil, to get it to the store, where there is refrigeration.
Take all that away and you are back to the pre-industrial era with pre-industrial problems like famine and pestilence.
The only reason civilization en masse gets away with the “health” craze from killing everybody is because it doesn’t dominate the market.
If the entire world went back to subsistence farming today, I bet over 90% of the population would die off. For myself, I’m quite happy not to have to work from sunup to sundown to simply feed myself and make sure I have enough for the winter.
But I guess that’s a good thing, if you value the environment more than human life.
Chipolte lost me as a customer, forever, with their tacos/burrito gay ad. There are too many alternatives out there to patronize companies that are so full of themselves, that they think that they can run offensive and disgusting ads without consequence.
But, for the most part, I have found that I now rarely have any chain restaurant food at all. With Yelp, it is so easy to find the good, family run restaurants, that have much better food, prepared from scratch, and prepared by people who care about quality and cleanliness as much as I do. The only downside with such restaurants is that most of them are closed on Sunday.
Long before Chipotle publicized its ban on Concealed Carry, I happened to wander into one for lunch.
Here was my experience:
1. A long wait in line with jostling “hipsters” that made Starbucks look like a Fundamentalist Sunday School. (Discomfort factor: 8)
2. Adolescent Counter people who mumble and mutter without separating their teeth, an affectation that indicates their “superiority” over the customer. When the customer has to strain to understand, or ask for a repetition, it immediately puts them at a disadvantage. This is actually a left-wing tactic.(Discomfort factor: 9)
3. Cold ingredients that have been sitting out all day, which is a prime environment for bacterial growth. (Discomfort factor: 8)
4. The Dining area is reminiscent of the Company Cafeteria in Orwell’s “1984”. Unfinished Cement walls, Stainless Steel tables that have not been cleared from the previous customers, Seats without backs to discourage any kind of relaxation, and a resulting noise level that is profoundly disturbing. (Discomfort factor: 9)
5. It is a “Gun-Free Zone”. (Discomfort factor: 10)
Just Sayin’
I don’t care for the Obamas at all but I always liked Chipolte. I didn’t know they closed their doors. Did they really?
Missing the point of all this, is the entire chain finally closing? Seems best course of action since they can’t seem to deliver clean, edible food without getting people sick.
Too bad you can’t take that selfie stick and beat him about the head and shoulders with it.
Sounds like Chipotle was, or is run by Food Luddites.
It won’t be long until the Luddites are also exposed for their foolish anti-GMO stance too.
But Chipotle gave everyone fair warning. After all, their name is pronounced sh1t puddle.
Boy, you nailed!
DDT may be the perfect choice.
You know whats funny as well, I asked a Hispanic girl I was seeing what she thought of them, she called it white folks imitation food.
-just saying
The MOTUS wrote this without mention of produce out of Mexico.
The CDC will blame hired help not washing their hands and blame Florida tomato growers.
actually THE TIMING IS NOT OFF BY MUCH.
HOW IS IT THERE ARE NONE SO BLIND AS THEY THAT WILL NOT SEE?
IS ANYTHING TOO DIFFICULT/HARD FOR GOD? NO!
LOL!
Indeed...Orwell was especially prescient about “Newspeak”, a language that was engineered to eliminate critical thi8nking.
Chipotle ain’t Mexican Food...Real Mexican Food is served at the table plasma-hot. And the only rice served there is on a combo plate as a side along with the refried beans.
Here in New Mexico there are tons of better options.
Yes...any resemblance to real Mexican food is purely coincidental.
