>>>the Southern Poverty Law Center has nothing to do with this

How do you know?

The complaint was initiated by fellow police officers. It's right in the article.

Lets say this makes up for the ones that are getting away with murder.

Yes, by all means, let's frame innocent people because of the actions of a larger demographic.

This highly suspect IMO. Hard to believe that anyone planting drugs would have a paper trail of that activity?
More likely that some bleeding heart planted false documents.

I'd like to see the actual evidence...my bet is that its innuendo...and embellished to make it look like global warming....

and if cops did this, they certainly would do it for others that they distained...ex wives...ex girlfriends...skinny white boys...Yankees...

Here is a long interview with Jon Carroll who says the cops planted dope on him too.

And much treasury paid out in restitution. Too bad the police officers won’t be the ones paying it.

What the hell does Alabama need a “director of Homeland Security” for? What a ridiculous police state the U.S. kleptocracy setup to control us after 9/11. We to dismantle ALL this crap.

Anything from the SPLC is highly suspect as being a pack of lies.

Agreed. But the Southern Poverty Law Center has nothing to do with this (other than labeling the organization the officers belong to).

I find it hard to see the motive of planting drugs on an innocent person

Arrests and convictions look good on an officer's record.

not in holding a group responsible.

Healthy distrust of government is warranted. Like the gipper said, "trust but verify". You break your own principle by accusing America's finest of institutional racism. I am from Missouri (today, not tomorrow)..."show me" the stats and circumstantial / factual proof. Otherwise I am very skeptical. Black crime is ubiquitous. Police risk their lives daily to fight black crime.

Things that made me go “hmmmmmmmmm”...

The extremist group that the officers belonged to (at some undetermined time in the past) was unnamed.

The planting of evidence spoken of allegedly occurred over 15 years ago.

The article seems to be mainly focused on the continuing and advancing careers of officers alleged to have participated in covering up the alleged crimes of other officers. It almost seems to be a political hit piece based on 15 year old allegations.

I am not saying that the alleged planting of evidence or subsequent cover up did not occur. If it did it was a heinous crime and needs to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. I am suggesting that all may not be as it seems in regards to the facts presented nor as to the timing of this article.

Arrests and convictions look good on an officer's record.

If that is the case, and a perverse incentive exists for cops to arrest the innocent, then we should see this occurring all over the country and across all racial groups (e.g. Black officers would be planting drugs on whites, Asians on Latinos). Does not make sense...

“Lets say this makes up for the ones that are getting away with murder.”

How does planting evidence on innocent people “make up for” guilty people who get away with crimes?!?

That’s a pretty twisted view of justice!

You break your own principle by accusing America's finest of institutional racism

The people who made the accusations are fellow police officers from the same department who say they witnessed it multiple times.
