Is Your Kid a Weirdo?
The Other McCain ^ | November 21, 2015 | Robert S. McCain

Posted on 11/24/2015 8:29:55 AM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

America is in the grip of a crisis, namely a shortage of normal people. Evidence indicates that the population of kooks and freaks is rapidly increasing, and there are simply not enough sane people to keep the weirdos under control. Especially among the under-30 demographic, the United States is struggling to cope with the proliferation of dangerous perverts, drug addicts, psychotics and Ivy League liberal arts majors:

A student at Columbia University is urging the school to inject more diversity into its required courses, claiming she suffered severe emotional trauma from reading too many books by and about white people. Columbia students and faculty gathered Wednesday night for a panel discussion on “Race, Ethnicity, and University Life.” . . .

One of the panelists at the event was black Columbia student Nissy Aya. Aya was supposed to graduate in 2014, but instead is only on track to receive her degree in 2016. That, Aya says, demonstrates “how hard it has been for me to get through this institution” . . .

Aya attributed some of her academic troubles to the trauma of having to take Columbia’s current Core Curriculum, which requires students to take a series of six classes with a focus on the culture and history of Western, European civilization. . . .

“It’s traumatizing to sit in Core classes,” she said. “We are looking at history through the lens of these powerful, white men. I have no power or agency as a black woman, so where do I fit in?”

If you can afford to attend Columbia University (annual tuition $51,008), you are not an oppressed victim of society. A student at an elite university who believes she is being “traumatized” by the curriculum is delusional — she is demented, deranged, mad, zany, wacky, off her rocker....

Am I a weirdo? Well, I don’t drink, never smoked ever, don’t do drugs or MJ. I never went out on my wife of 44 years and I still believe in God and our Constitution and that welfare and taxation is theft. I still believe if you want something, like a college education, you should earn it. I also believe if everyone refused to pay the insane price, the cost would drop like a rock.

So! Am I a weirdo? Yes, thank God!

I know plenty of young adults who are normal. They are into hunting and the outdoors and work at their jobs.

Also, what about all the young people who joined the military the past 15 years during a time of war. Are they weirdos?

The freaks get the attention from the media but that doesn’t mean they are the rule.

"Or so the people in the media who report on polls of carefully selected populations would have us believe."

Nah, I'm not buying that this is a false perception they have created. Anyone that has a basic familiarity with this generation knows these polls are a pretty accurate reflection of their attitudes.

"I guess you can blame the lumber if you don't like the way the house turned out, but more often than not it is the craftsmen to blame."

Oh, I'm sorry, I thought I was on a conservative board. You know, the people who believe in personal responsibility. Millenials are adults now, they can shoulder the blame for their own choices in life.

“What makes you think that other generations would not embrace it?”

What makes you think I think that?

I just noted that the posters saying “oh the millenials I know aren’t like that” are being foolish. Their anecdotal experience with a few millenials (probably from more rural areas) isn’t representative of the generation as a whole.

Well, you are on a Conservative board.

If you raise your kid on MTV, or to be a thief and a drug dealer, guess what? They aren't likely to revolt and become a nuclear physicist.

Yes, the parents establish the standards, the parents decide what is acceptable. That takes time and effort.

But if the new car, walk-in closet full of the latest fashion, and cocktail party is sooo important they ignore their kids, damnstraight, the parents get to share the blame for what they spawned and nurtured by their neglect.

Just because it is older now, doesn't mean that mommy and daddy didn't have anything to do with it. How about taking personal responsibility for raising your kids?

I'm a great grandfather, and I have seen it happen more than once.

You know what rankled the most at that meal? The hostess announced as we were seating ourselves that dessert would be a cherry pie. So I politely took a few small mouthfuls and artfully pushed stuff around anticipating the pie. That wretched collapsed gray mess of a rye flour with unsweetened sour cherries was the straw that broke the camel’s back. Hopes dashed beyond saving.

My husband went vegan for about 3 years after his doctor wanted to put him on meds for high cholesterol abd he’s lactor intolerant.

He started eating meat after he was diagnosed with cancer. He was just feeling too tired, and his cholesterol has stayed liw.

We know how to cook yummy vegan meals. However, it’s just annoying the ones that feel sorry for the animals.

Nope.

Mine are in their fifties-—they can figure it out themselves.

Reading what people write about younger generations here would lead one to believe that it all happened in a vacuum.

The fact is that nearly everyone here was living off of the fat of the land while all these worthless youngins were raised. How many expensive cars did you buy? How many homes? How many pairs of shoes or over priced clothing? How many hours of television did you watch? How many useless gadgets? How many movies did you go to? How much worthless junk fills the emptiness in your life?

They are their parents and grandparents...who is to blame but them?

They allowed their children and grandchildren to be raised by the media.

Before anyone blames the young they should first slap the old. It all happened under their watch...they inherited greatness and did very little to protect it.

Now the sane young are left to try to pick up the pieces and the old will find themselves living in a country they don’t recognize.

You reap what you sow. I have very little sympathy for the old whingers here. THEY did it. THEY could have prevented it. THEY did nothing. Now suffer the consequences. Quit blaming everyone but yourselves.

Watching all the recent craziness on campus, I am convinced that the liberals, particularly the millennial spawn of the Baby Boomers, have reached a pathological state. They are no longer redeemable. Unfortunately, their counterparts in Europe & the Middle East are equally useless — or dangerous.

I've got 15 nieces and nephews that are millenials and 3 grandkids. They're all normal, well adjusted kids. Not one of them has ever asked for a 'safe space' or wished they weren't white...

That's because they're (presumably) conservative?

It's the liberals raised by liberal parents who are a lost cause.
