Cruz is a detail guy who understands how the system works, or more accurately, doesn’t work.
IMHO Cruz is the person we can trust to understand how the system is supposed to work. And to understand, in a big-picture sense, what is wrong.
Trump is a big picture guy.
Trump would be the person to not just tell the Corps of Engineers to build a fence, but to identify the details in which the devil resides in a plan.
In political Realville, Trump is not angling for VP, and probably would not accept it (more is the pity, seeing that as VP candidate he could self-fund). Cruz is not angling for VP either, but he would IMHO accept it.

But if not president, Cruz would IMHO be best as AG - in waiting for the first SCOTUS vacancy. Not that he isn’t needed in the Senate - but at this point he is probably up or out, cannot really be effective any longer where he is.

I didn't mean managing a business, I meant having a head for business, and Schwarzenegger, from what I read of him at the time, had that and succeeded well before becoming a movie star.

Trump is a self-promoter. The reason people think of him as a brilliant genius businessman super hero who can save the world ... is because for seven years he had a TV show that portrayed him as such, and prior to that had advertising and PR campaigns that portrayed him as such, if I remember correctly.

Yes, he has prospered and done well. But so has Warren Buffett and any other number of billionaires who are not showmen.

Not one time has a Presidential person picked the Vice President I thought they would. It is a complicated pick and Cruz is not a guarantee. When they start discussing electoral college, Cruz doesn’t bring anything.

Trump and Cruz get along very well

...

And the article reflects that. The headline is misleading.

Oh, man, that Trump, he is so brilliant, such a genius -- Cruz has spent his life studying the Constitution, but that Trump just runs circles around him!

And Trump will be running circles around all those shocked conservatives who voted for him when they see him govern like a stone-cold left-leaning moderate once in office.

Dig deeper into Trump if you have the guts.

Trumps ego will not allow him to be vice-president of anything.

I don't think Trump is that selfish. He's a generous man, and will do it for our country. He's a patriot.

His three children ARE running the business. He has stated that a dozen times in the last couple of months.

I already KNEW that. That's why I said as VP he could keep tabs on what his children are doing with the business. They run it, but you can bet Dad watches them.

I know all about Trump - his life is an open book. Your post is childish and boorish. And, no Cruz hasn’t spent his LIFE studying the Constitution. Remember - he was a citizen of Canada most of his life. You are politically ignorant.

Oh, I absolutely agree that most things should be done by the private sector... but the public sector (which needs to be small and Constitutional) SHOULD be run like a business, especially with making sure it is on-budget and no debt.

Saying that, I absolutely believe Trump is committed to tackling the issues of government spending (simply put, he has to make cuts) and drastic measures on illegals. Where or how he was in the past is not where he is now. Given that he approaches things like a businessman, he has to be able to change where measures aren’t working. I will not say that I trust him... nobody should trust a person running for office... but that I give him enough credence that he can begin to get us back on the right track.

If I suspected for a moment Trump was a fraud and phony, I would not be speaking warmly of him. There’s too many tells from office-seeking individuals that would give away a false agenda, and he isn’t showing any. Remember, he has more to lose by doing this than gain. And at his age, he doesn’t need the aggravation if he weren’t serious.

As for good and bad politicians, we’ve had countless figures go to DC on the right side of the issues, only to get assimilated by the hive in short order. We have a lack of statesmen and stateswomen who will keep to the values they espoused in their first election. As for the Presidency, we’ve never had one go directly from the private sector directly to the highest office (aside from Eisenhower & Zachary Taylor, but given that they were military, that’s something different). I think it’s time to think outside the proverbial box and try something different and audacious.

I will say in closing that I’m still voting for Sen. Cruz first in the primary, only that I do not oppose Trump and expect to vote for him in the general (with Cruz as VP).

Cruz was out of Canada before he began elementary school.

Have read Texans post that a whole border fence is not needed because there are impassable mountains. In addition, the border patrol and hopefully some military will actually be on guard. My cousins to the nth degree have done a good job with a temp-fence.

THAT is an ignorant and childish statement. Yes, because his American mother was in Canada at the time of his birth, Cruz had dual citizenship. But Cruz is and always has been a conservative patriotic American with a true devotion and understanding of the US Constitution.

It would be a sad day for us if Trump tried to take Cruz out or vice versa.

I agree. I think Cruz would do well to accept a veep position. It’s usually a nothing job but he could make it something.

Plus after 4 years Trump will either be able to put his plans into effect or he won’t.

If he does, he’ll say ‘my work here is done.’ and go back to business.

If he doesn’t, he’ll be sick of the fight and turn it over to Cruz.

Either way we’d have 12 years of leadership.

if Cruz’s numbers come up near Trump’s, then the two would join forces and partner against their opposition.

I suspect this is their intent all along. What a Great American Team that would be......16 years? how refreshing.

I totally agree. A lot of people say that VP is a do nothing post but I think it’s the individual or ha boss that makes that so. Cruz is the kind of patriot who would come to work every day confronting liberals with their unconstitutional crap.

Are you implying we don’t have the capability? Because there are plenty of people that would be willing to work it.

Warren Buffet & Soros & Bill Gates do not have the personality to resonate with voters and get elected president. Arnold S. was the most likable of the Billionaire bunch.
