I live in Upstate New York (the sane portion). I have been looking forward to the year when I don’t have to drive 1,400 miles every Winter to be able to enjoy the month of March. I still have to drive the same distance I did 15 years ago. What’s with that?
I have to say that the Chinese do not believe this, they are building man made islands in the South China Sea that are only one meter in height. If they don’t believe the sea is gonna rise, why should we?

Now it is still freezing at Easter time...
But I think the “Ice Boom” is responsible for that. One spring I was at a park in Lancaster and we were in shorts and t-shirt throwing a frisbee, and I had to go downtown Buffalo that afternoon, and I had to put on a winter jacket.
That stupid Ice Boom is a royal pain in the ass. They should just put protective barriers around the niagara intake turbines and stop freezing the rest of Buffalo each spring

I agree. We celebrate Easter at my Mom inlaws house right where the ice boom is, sometimes it is very nice, other times freezing cold. It varies year to year.
They could easily put up ice breaks near the intakes, wedges even to force the ice away from shore. They also have an ice breaking tug boat that is constantly going back and forth by them.
