Maybe people are beginning to make up their mind about who they will support in the Republican primaries.
The television viewership ratings tell the story. It may be too late for anyone to catch Donald Trump. Just as after every other debate, even on the Democrat side, the paid âinsidersâ tell us who won the night and we disagree.
But in all but loony toons Glenn Beckâs poll where libertarian Rand Paul beat Donald Trump by a single point, Trump has won with numbers running from solid to blow out.
When hundreds of thousands of people vote on these on line polls, even in those that unfortunately allow multiple votes, all of them somehow end up with Trump on top. After this debate Trump sagged to 34% in the Drudge poll but still maintained an average double digit lead over the various second place finishers, whether, Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz, or Rand Paul.
A local talk radio station in New York is quoting a survey of âRepublican insidersâ that shows Marco Rubio âclearly wonâ with 40% giving him the nod and their second place finisher had just 12 percent. These are the same âinsidersâ who have not been able to derail Trump for five months.
Now we are told by the people who have no dog in this fight, the people who keep track of the television ratings, that the viewership of this debate was very high but not higher than the last debate. The ratings fell 500,000 viewers to

Was there a moderator named Sally by any chance?
That sounds like a good plan—but I only have a “dumb” phone. LOL!
No. Fox Business is not carried by as many cable outlets. Fox Business has a smaller footprint in the market so fewer people have access to see the debates.
What is the viewer difference in numbers between the Democrat debate and the fourth Republican debate ?
I were were one of the low poling candidates right now I would forget the nomination and go hard after Hillary and Bernie.
They have a big enough voice right now to hurt Hillary
“The debates will continue until morale improves...”
I think people are bored, many have decided on a few candidates and are waiting to see how the field narrows. Viewership will rise when its down to about 3 and people have to re-evaluate.
“are minds made up?”
Possibly. But also people realize that old ground is now being repeatedly replowed. For instance, did you know Kasich’s father was a mailman, that Kasich was governor of Ohio, and the he claims he produced a budget surplus as governor of Ohio?
No.
It all doesn’t mean much of anything until February.
As usual, Coach is NOT right. This blog has to have some of the worst political analysis out there.
Fox Business channel was very close behind the numbers CNBC got, all the while being available to fewer viewers - and because it is only 8 years old many people would be trying to find it for the first time. Additionally, something like 1.4 million people watched the streaming coverage online.
Once again, the online polls do not matter. They are worthless. If you believed those polls Ron Paul should be President because he consistently won them (along with most straw polls). How many times does this need to said? And if you DO believe these worthless click bait polls, it is STILL not good news for Trump as he did not register on them as well after the 4th debate as he had the previous ones.
This blog should simply be renamed “Vote Trump” because no matter how many words the entries are they all amount to the same thing.
And the answer is no, people have not likely made up their minds. That will happen as we get close to actual voting in the primaries.
Let’s face it. They are boring.
And Fox business is not as widely distributed as the other hosts.
It will pick up as we get closer. But we need to start clearing the field and limiting the stage to five candidates.
My mind has been made up when Trump went to the border and gave that speech...
100% behind TRUMP!!!
I want to save America and I don’t want killary in the white house...
I could not get it on Comcast in NJ.
I only watched the first few minutes of Debate 3. By then I knew that it would be a gotcha contest and snark fest. I was giving a pass to Debate 4 when my wife told me I should watch because there was some substance to the questions. There may have been a lot of viewers like me who were just tired of the nonsense.
My mind is made up.
1) Cruz - my choice from day one
2) Trump - I am beginning to believe he is serious
3) The Others - forget about those GOP pretenders
Cruz or Trump *might* turn this country around. None of the e-GOP would, they would continue caving in to the jackass party. Just the same old Shi’ite. And of course, the leading contenders approved by the American Communist Party would continue dictator Obola’s path of destruction.
I always thought 8 debates was 3-4 too many. They should have one more debate a couple of weeks before the Iowa Caucus and leave it at that.
I made up my mind long ago. Watching 4 debates has only confirmed what I already thought. I may or may not bother to watch any further debates. Certainly will skip the Faux News debate in Jan with the Axis of Evil moderating (Kelly, Wallace and Baier).
Or it might just be that the new-comer Fox News Channel is not as widely carried as the older CNBC which carried the previous debate - Demand It!......
Should have been “Fox Business Channel” of course - too much vino....
