'Every restaurant in America would shut down.'
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump's strong stance on illegal immigration has already drawn serious backlash from the restaurant industry, and celebrity chefs José Andrés and Geoffrey Zakarian have pulled restaurants from Trump's new Washington, D.C., hotel. Now ex-cook and current world-traveling TV host Anthony Bourdain is getting into the mix. Bourdain made an appearance on SiriusXM's StandUP With Pete Dominick and defended America's undocumented workers.
I grew up in the restaurant business â 30 years in the restaurant business. I came out of, like a lot of other white kids, I rolled out of a prestigious culinary institute and went to work in real restaurants. I walked into restaurants and always, the person who had been there the longest, who took the time to show me how it was done, was always Mexican or Central American. The backbone of the industry - meaning most of the people in my experience cooking, preparing your food. Twenty of those years in this business I was an employer, I was a manager employer. Never, in any of those years, not once, did anyone walk into my restaurant â any American-born kid â walk into my restaurant and say I'd like a job as a night porter or a dishwasher. Even a prep cook â few and far between. Just not willing to start at the bottom like that.
Bourdain went on to say that if Trump were to win the presidency and deport 11 million illegal immigrants, "every restaurant in America would shut down," and restaurant owners share his sentiment because "they'd be up the creek. ... It is really, really getting hard to find people to do the jobs."

It's not the first time Bourdain has commented on Trump. He previously said The Donald "offends me" and the Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City is "the enemy of the human spirit." Bourdain hasn't given his coveted endorsement for the 2016 election, but he threw his support behind Barack Obama in 2012 and 2008.
Typical liberal screwball “logic.” Since the great majority of people who applied for jobs in his restaurant were immigrants, we should let in as many people as possible, legal or illegal.
Bourdain has far too much regard for his own opinion.

Hope he hasn’t quit smoking!
It's Food Network (which I think Bourdain left) lib, Andrew Zimmern, who really eats the weird stuff.
That is why I’m not crazy eating out or getting some fast food. Lord knows what is going behind the kitchen. I would like to see a sink next to the employee bathroom door so everyone can see if they wash their hands or not.
*Just now on our local news, they just reported that one of the employees has it, but they won’t say if he or she was the one that started the spread.
Who takes political advice from a short order cook?

With an attitude...despise that pompuos bastard bastard....not a polite bone in his body
And there you have it ladies and gentlemen. They need slave labor to maximize profits. The prosecution rests.
Wait..did he have his own restaurant? DID HE PAY THEM $15 AN HOUR....I think not
But one has to admit his is a great gig: traveling the world, eating and drinking, and drinking.
Anthony! Look! Thereâs free drinks over there!
That should keep him busy for a little while.
Yep drunk on top of that!
Heâs an arrogant pr!ck.
worth repeating
So illegal aliens are required to make every restaurantâs business model work? Thatâs interesting.
as far as he’s concerned
Your typical arrogant pr!ck is far less tedious than Mr Bourdain.
BINGO!
When you have over 94,000,000 people out of a job; they will work in a restaurant .. if thatâs all there is. And, while theyâre doing that, they can continue their education and maybe go for a 2nd degree, or write a book, etc.
Most of those folks are on the dole.
Anthony Bourdain is entertaining but he is a crude and foul mouthed alcoholic who has no business vocalizing his ignorance.

Ditto
Was he drunk when he said this? LMAO....
Good chance would be yes!
I worked in several restaurants in NJ starting as a dishwasher and busboy, pretty much everyone I worked with was an American.
He is a drunk.. Plain and simple..
Tony you’re not all that important in the Presidential election cycle. Have another drink or twelve. :-)
He is so wrong. My grandfather came here legally and opened a restaurant and worked hard. He did not rely on the government.
I like watching Bourdain’s travel shows. But if every restaurant in the US closed, well, so what. Small price to pay.
Oh, well, now that this Food Network guy has weighed in, I see the error of my ways. How could I ever have thought Trump was right in what he says about the illegals?
