Laughing Gas

Newest menace to the globe: Laughing Gas

Some dentists use Laughing Gas for its analgesic effects instead of local anaesthetics. It’s supposed to prevent pain when they get close to your nerves. I’ve never had the pleasure of such a treatment and my dentist prefers the modern “slight discomfort” version of the poke and needle variety. Of course, that’s miles ahead of the procedure I experienced in my early years when the dentist appeared to use a hammer drill to lay bare the live nerves of my teeth—without any analgesic at all.

But I’m getting sidetracked. This post is about the newest menace to the globe: Laughing Gas. Believe me this is not a laughing matter. Some activists think that this gas is another villain causing “climate change,” “global warming,” polar ice melting, rising ocean levels, droughts and floods, and all other calamities.

Obviously, the claims of carbon dioxide (CO2) causing every conceivable misfortune is running into some difficulties; it must be high time to find another culprit.

Seriously. They would inject a liter or so of saline on either side. Right in the soft spot of the crotch, in the seam to the upper thigh.

The midwife jokingly said that the ensuing pain of the saline blocks out the pain of childbirth. A lot of Swedish women use that method but natural childbirth is still very popular.

Nitrous oxide is considered the wimpy way out.

My son is 13 now, born in 2002. Actually, his Apgar score was low when he finally made it. So yes, then.

But they put him on oxygen right away. No lingering effects as far as I can tell, but maybe he was destined to be another Einstein and that ruined it for him.....who knows.

But then again, his spelling and handwriting are pretty bad!!! He is an A-B student at a very rigorous private school so I don’t think he lost too much.

How do you know it was the B12 and not just the anesthesia finally wearing off?

Next threats: Nitrogen and Oxygen. Only government regulated nitrogen and oxygen will be authorized for public use. The EPA will send a fine to God for repeated violations.

DO NOT TAKE IT AT YOUR DENTIST OFFICE!!! I had it and they gave me an overdose, thought I had been in the office for about 15 min. I was in there for over 4 hours.

I get it all the time even for scaling procedures.

I find it pleasant and creates no problems.

The anesthesia machines won't permit a mixture above 33% or 36% or whatever the legal limit is, and the compound isn't toxic, but some people including my wife and you can not tolerate it.

The dentist said it wears off within 10 minutes after it has been stopped. I had it on Monday, it was Friday when I took the B-12.

Sounds like he is doing better than I was at that age! Best to your family.

I wonder if your system just doesn’t metabolize it. I vaguely recall reading about a small number of patients who don’t metabolize some of the general anesthetics and stay under for days. I’d at least mention your experience with the nitrous if you ever need a general.

“I felt like I had Alzheimers, contacted the dentist and he suggested I take B12, after 2 large doses it worked and I was back to normal.

The question I have been left with after this experience is how many people that have been diagnosed Alzheimers only have a vit b deficiency? Just sayin....based on my experience.”

Your dentist is a very smart guy, understanding the connection with nitrous oxide and B-12. Nitrous oxide can be extremely toxic for people with serious B-12 deficiency, which is often undiagnosed.

I’ve studied B-12 deficiency extensively because I have pernicious anemia and must inject myself with B-12 to avoid dying.

Given your experience with the nitrous, you might want to look some more into this yourself.

Here’s an excellent book on the subject:
