Donald, I'll admit up front I'm not a fan. However, Boehner's sudden resignation/retirement has presented you with a golden opportunity, if you have the cojones to go after it. ..
So, seize the moment!
Hold a presser, and announce that Kevin McCarthy should not be the next Speaker.
Do NOT suggest who should get the job..don't endorse anyone...merely state that there are any number of solid conservatives in the House who would do a great (your favorite word) job as Speaker.
Then, (and this will be hard for you, I know, but try real hard)..don't say or do anything else about the subject. You've put it in motion..you started the ball..you'll get the credit.
There have been lots of reports that you campaign is starting to slip..maybe yes, maybe no..but this is a great chance to jump start it, and get the thanks, and admiration, and possibly the support, from every conservative.
It's there, all there, just waiting for you.
How do we know McCarthy isn’t Trump’s guy?
I doubt Trump will express a opinion. He has a unique ability to do that without losing support.

We’re already hearing reports that Kevin McCarthy is in line to be the next Speaker. That’s so wrong on so many levels. We didn’t pressure Boehner to replace him with another squish.

It will be a miracle if we get anyone but a squish. The Libs won’t vote for real Americans and the real Americans won’t support a Lib. So we will get a compromise candidate from dead center.
