A former Marines missing service dog turned up in Texas last week, nine months after the German shepherd disappeared and was possibly stolen from a North County home, a Vista-based sheriffs detective said Tuesday.
On Aug. 31, a tip led Kais owner, Alexandra Melnick, to a home in Aubrey, about an hour north of Dallas. The Vista woman flew to Texas and confirmed that her dog was at the home, Detective Debra Hutches said.

A serious effort indeed.
That's the problem. The sheriff needs to upgrade to XP.
Dog must be pretty smart - wanted to get out of California and move to Texas.
Ping!
This is a terrible story. I wonder what led this young pup to be in “terrible” health and what excuse the N. Dallas woman will provide for why she has the dog?
WOW! My Marines never looked like that, though most of them were dain bramaged.

I agree. Dangerous place. Then again, she is dain bramaged.

I got a real bad attitude for anyone who would do anything to harm a GSD grrr...
On second thought; you know what kind of dog would go out on a cliff like that? The Coyote from The Roadrunner SHow.
Carrying an anvil...
I’ve seen to many Warner Bros. cartoons to sit on a rock like that.

If the Road Runner was standing on that rock, the rest of the world would fall away, and the rock and Road Runner would remain :D
Holy cow. This girl is a model. Google her name.
Kai has been released back to its rightful owner today by a Texas judge. She is returning back with the dog to San Diego right now.
I’m so glad to hear that.
Outstanding!
Man, I bet they are both really happy. I really hope she is able to get the dog back in good health, but I have faith.
Tyvm for the update, chris^^
