Its really weird to see one of the more masculine and patriarchal professional sports keep making politically correct steps to convince America that it isnt masculine and patriarchal. I guess this year theyre gonna ramp it up with the first ever LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) celebration! And of course it had to be the Detroit Lions:
The Detroit Lions are set to host what is believed to be the NFLs first LGBT night, according to a report in the Detroit Free Press.
The Detroit Regional LGBT Chamber of Commerce says it will hold a pride event during the Lions game against the Minnesota Vikings on Oct. 25 at Ford Field. It would follow similar LGBT pride events already held by the organization at Pistons, Red Wings and Tigers games since December.
CEO James Felton Keith said his group will have access to a block of upper-level tickets plus rooftop seating. In addition, he said, the group will be acknowledged during the game on the scoreboard or in some other way, adding that the Lions will help find corporate sponsorship for the event and a pregame tailgate party.

Odd place for it since Detroit isn’t exactly the most gay friendly town.

Well I hope this 1.6% of the population will keep all the pro sports seats filled when the rest of us keep our children and grandchildren away from these stadiums. No more going to the games for me and I’m not talking about just the “special” event days.
To: Sybeck1
I haven’t watched an NFL game in years.
Go ahead, poofters and celebrate.
One day no one will pay your over-inflated salaries.

I used to like football for the fact that: the rules are solid, and it was a he-man sport. Ha ha. The Lord is making me realize what's important.

Lots of funny posts here. Keeping a good sense of humor is going to be the only way to get through this, if we ever do that is.

That really surprised me, considering that the 49ers could have done that years ago considering the historical political influence of the LGBT community in San Francisco.

I’m with you. I don’t watch NFL, NBA, or MLB. I never did like soccer. And now the NHL Red Wings? Tennis which was always considered a light in the loafers sport seems to be the only ones not jumping up & down. I guess they did they’re celebrating years ago and are over it.

Took my youngish son to a SF game maybe 20 years ago (don’t recall if Giants or Niners) and it was a gay day. They unfurled the damnable AIDS quilt on the field and had a lot of yammering about those who died. I think it was the most disgusting day of my life. SF sports teams have been doing this crap for years. Imagine having to make up some lie to tell your son about what was going on. Damn their hides.
