The University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point has released a list of microaggressions it expects new faculty to read. The list can be found on the university's official website.
The titled of the document is "Examples of Racial Microaggressions" and outlines types of "racist microaggressions," examples of them, and what they are "actually" saying.
In the section "Color Blindness: Statements that indicate that a White person does not want to acknowledge race," the quote, "America is a melting pot" is said to be racist. According to the document, whites try to force others to "assimilate/acculturate to the dominant culture" when they say that.
Similarly, "There is only one race, the human race" is deemed racist because you are "denying the individual as a racial/cultural being."
Under the "Myth of meritocracy: Statements which assert that race does not play a role in life successes" section, the statement "I believe the most qualified person should get the job" is deemed racist. According to Wisconsin, this is because it's as if you are telling minorities, "People of color are given extra unfair benefits because of their race."
Additionally, "Everyone can succeed in this society, if they work hard enough" is considered racist because it's as if you're telling minorities, "People of color are lazy and / or incompetent and need to work harder."
The list also states that asking an Asian person what they think is racist. Oddly, the list also includes a section about what "black people" and what "Asian people" might act like and makes suggestions accordingly. Ironically, of course, this makes an assumption about what people of different races might do.
More academic rot promulgated not by professors, but by university administrators. The document is posted by said institution’s Provost’s Office.
Just remember this when you praise Scott Walker for wanting to take power from the faculty and give it to the professional university administrators: the worst rot in academe outside of programs with names of the form [Affirmative-action-beneficiary-group] Studies is promulgated by university administrators, not professors. Giving them more power is not a good idea.
Yes. Anything a white person says is racist in academe because the Newspeak word "racist" can, when needed, mean "white person". (It can also mean the same thing as the English word "racist", or be equivalent to the English phrase "critic of a leftwing program deemed by the left to be beneficial to racial minorities", as needed, and, like all Newspeak words and phrases can change meaning after it's been uttered or written as necessary to promote the expansion of state power under the control of leftists.)
Flying the American Flag is a macro-agression to these people.
Rename the list “Items to Know That you are Talking to a PC Idiot”.
Ignore these people.
I think I will still get by with saying, “Get your fat ass off the couch, put down the bag of Cheetos, turn off the TV, study for the exam, and maybe you will pass this class. Otherwise, I hear McDonald’s is needing help.”
A list is a microaggression.
You have to admit that the fascist Left is very creative when it comes to manipulating the language. Microaggression indeed.
There ain’t a Chinaman’s chance of me conforming to this bullcrap.
The professors are not innocent.
The sh## has a risen to the top of the cesspool
