The University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point has released a list of microaggressions it expects new faculty to read. The list can be found on the university's official website.
The titled of the document is "Examples of Racial Microaggressions" and outlines types of "racist microaggressions," examples of them, and what they are "actually" saying.
In the section "Color Blindness: Statements that indicate that a White person does not want to acknowledge race," the quote, "America is a melting pot" is said to be racist. According to the document, whites try to force others to "assimilate/acculturate to the dominant culture" when they say that.
Similarly, "There is only one race, the human race" is deemed racist because you are "denying the individual as a racial/cultural being."
Under the "Myth of meritocracy: Statements which assert that race does not play a role in life successes" section, the statement "I believe the most qualified person should get the job" is deemed racist. According to Wisconsin, this is because it's as if you are telling minorities, "People of color are given extra unfair benefits because of their race."
Additionally, "Everyone can succeed in this society, if they work hard enough" is considered racist because it's as if you're telling minorities, "People of color are lazy and / or incompetent and need to work harder."
The list also states that asking an Asian person what they think is racist. Oddly, the list also includes a section about what "black people" and what "Asian people" might act like and makes suggestions accordingly. Ironically, of course, this makes an assumption about what people of different races might do.
It’s getting close to start using some MACROaggression on these thought police.
The Left cannot help but overreach. They don’t know how to avoid it.
Yea, small people, with maybe, one or two functioning brain cells.
Talk about killing the goose that laid the golden egg. Those buildings are named after people who paid big bucks to get their name up there. Pissing off your benefactors is is stupid way to run an institution that is dependent on having benefactors.
I’m a microagressionist. I occasionally refer to my Asian wife as “black head” or “dragon lady”. Encouraged my younger son to get a shirt that reads “Assembled in USA from foreign and domestic components”. :)
UW, StevensPoint publishes list of “micro aggressions” that all faculty are expected to read and assimilate before the fall semester. Methinks Scott Walker should cut more of their budget in the biennial budget.
FReep Mail me if you want on, or off, this Wisconsin interest ping list.
Is the left winning? Where are equivalent memes gaining traction from the right?
They hate this country and especially Whites. And they are insane.
I am 40. I am self employed with a small and thriving manufacturing company.
If these are going to be my competition the next 20 years of my working life, I will mop the floor with these delicate snowflakes. The only thing these little creeps will know how to do is sue. They can’t compete in the world. It is no wonder companies want to import a bunch of Indian programmers. I’ve never heard Indians (had a consulting job in Chandigargh for a while) winge and complain like these safe room coddled pajama people.
Is pointing out poor grammar also a form of racial micro-aggression? It is also odd how they insist on capitalizing "White" as a proper noun.
These “ideas” assume that black problems are due to environmental causes. What if that theory is not true and their problems are biological in origin?
So the Progressive mantra is now “blacks can’t succeed” or “blacks don’t have what it takes?” They might as well be upfront about it since Affirmative Action has been their subtle way of saying it for decades.
Seems like that would be more of a micro-agression than saying “you can make it if you try” but what do I know?
Looks like the Left believes that if you can’t destroy the constitution outright, you can always utilize academic gobbledy-gook and meaningless double-talk to undermine its meaning.
And given the current direction of the United States, they’re probably correct.
When will the differently color visioned stand up to this insulting term? We can't even get seeing eye dogs to help us. Have you ever seen a confused German shepherd shrug?
Ebola could be the worst case of microaggression.
To keep calling this country the United States, after all the changes, doesn't seem right.
It's like when a corporate raider bought an established American company, fired all the US workers, moved production to Asia, but kept selling the new shabby product under the old brand name.
The same thing happened to ancient Rome. They kept calling it the Roman Republic long after it became a despotic empire.
White people EXISTING is a microaggression to these racist evil people.
[ Only small people can see a microaggression. ]
Micro-aggression if for people who are too wussy to do passive aggression, passive aggression is for people who are to wussy to do Real Aggression....
They do real aggression to us, then complain that we do microaggression to them.
Is saying "Not everyone can succeed" also racist?
